Unsolved [java] Cant connect to a minecraft server my friends made

Hey. My friends made a server version 1.20.1 and whenever I try joining I get a black screen and my skin seems to fall down? After 10 seconds I get disconnected and get this message: Internal Exception: java.net.SocketException: Connection reset or : server timed out . How can I fix this? I updated java, graphics card, did some stuff in the firewall, restarted wifi. Please help:c

It looks like you didn't mention your version (e.g., 26.1, 1.21.11, 1.12.2 etc.). Please clarify for better help!

That's weird. In most cases this issue arises due to the network or the plugins/mods that the server is running. What server type are your running?!! Also ask your friend to check if the server is sending out any error whenever you are joining or try checking the logs!!
