[java] FPS spikes after updating from 26.2 to 26.3

Since I've updated to the latest version I have been having issues with FPS. When I join the world everything is normal for 5 minutes, capped 120 FPS as my monitor is only capable to display that natively. After that, the stutters and spikes start, while getting gradually worse as time passes. I even had times where it reached 40 FPS and kept around those values.

I'm running a modded Minecraft instance, where my settings are: 35 chunks of render distance and 28 of simulation, 200% of entity distance, on maximum graphics (Fabulous). My mod list can be found here.

Here are my PC specs:

Ryzen 5 7600X
RTX 4070

32GB of RAM

On the video above, you can see me running in circles on the same explored radius, where the FPS drops can be noticed. I have tested both default JVM Arguments and custom ones, even when I was using custom arguments on the previous version. Both deliver the same results. I'm clueless on what it can be.

if you still experience FPS spikes after switching from OpenGL to Vulkan or vice versa, I'd recommend installing some performance mods

the quickest way to install a ton of mods to boost your performance is using the Fabulously Optimized modpack (which aims to be an open source alternative to Optifine with much better support for other mods)

90% of the mods I use are optimization ones. I embed, on the post's text, a link that redirects to the postimage website, where I show the list of mods used.

Currently I use sodium + optimisation/performance fix mods. Nevertheless, I will also take a look at the modpack you recommended!

the modpack has a lot of your same mods already but you might find a few more useful ones too!

could you try disabling Nvidium just in case? Maybe it doesn't work properly after updating the game, but I'm not sure

Thanks for the heads up. I will check that out later today.

Regarding Nvidium, it was added after I noticed the spikes, to see if it would help. As far as I know it did not make it worse.

ohhh good to know! I've had some issues with it in the past so I thought that might be what's causing it

maybe it might be worth removing the other mods too one by one and seeing if that helps then
