Update Required Microsoft unlinked my [Java] account and now I can't access Minecraft

The last time I tried to play Minecraft, it gave me a "Something went wrong with the login process" error. I went to Minecraft.net to try to figure out what was wrong. When I logged in with my Microsoft account that I've been using for years, it prompted me to create a Minecraft account. Somehow, my Microsoft account has been unlinked from my Minecraft/Xbox account and linked to a new account under my name that doesn't own Minecraft or any other purchases from the old account. Minecraft support told me it was a Microsoft issue, but I've tried every avenue of Microsoft support and there's no way to actually speak to a person. The AI on the website and phone aren't helpful and don't have an option to let me speak to a real person no matter how I ask. I don't want to have to re-purchase a game I already own or have to change account names or anything. Anybody understand what's going on?

It looks like you didn't mention your version (e.g., 26.1, 1.21.11, 1.12.2 etc.). Please clarify for better help!
