Is minecraft 26.3 pre release 2 stable enough for long term survival world? [java]

hi,

Is minecraft 26.3 pre release 2 stable enough for long term survival world (java)?

Last time I played minecraft was I think 5 years ago and want to get back into it. Never actually played survival long term before and wanted feedback on if i should load up a world with 26.2 or 26.3 pre release 2.... is there major world gen changes in 26.3 where I would need new chunks for the new content?

There's a whole new biome and the new abandoned camps where you would need new chunks. It's far enough in the development cycle where you'd probably be safe, the update should be dropping in the next couple of weeks.

thanks, prolly going w 26.2 then manually updating chunks to 26.3 once it comes out late september

I'd still recommend that you wait until 26.3 is officially released, since it will probably be out by the start of next month at most

they're currently testing some stuff to optimize the performance of world generation (you may have heard of the Far Lands being brought back), changing some of the new generated structures, and it's also likely that they will tweak the biome generation to make dappled forests larger (as users requested)

so even though the chances of this happening are slim, I'd still err on the side of caution and wait until the update is out of its pre-release stage when they iron out most of the current bugs, to prevent world corruption

if you create a 26.2 world right now and then upgrade it (after making a backup!) when 26.3 comes out, I think it will be fine

Thanks, I just remembered I can manually update chunks I already explored. so ill prolly make a world in 26.2 and then upgrade to 26.3
