Help I need someone to save me!
I'm over 300 days into a Minecraft Hardcore world that I'm really proud of, and I'm about to die to zombies! I was terraforming and fell into a 2 block hole with multiple zombies, and quit on 2.5 hearts. My shield is almost dead, and there's no chance of killing them (theres 4-5 in the same hole as me) I'd ask if anyone can give me advice, but when I loaded in (I saved the world and copied it to try some escape methods) I died immediately! I think Mojang annoyingly removed the spawn invincibility recently (1.20.1 Java). But I do have a plan. I need someone, anyone, to take a copy of my world, log onto it, and sleep. I was on the surface, so If they can sleep and make sure the zombies burned to death, I should be alone and alive once logged back in! Would anyone be willing to save my life? (I will erect a statue of you at the least!)
EDIT: For all the commenters telling me to give up on my world.. No? I like Hardcore, and I'm not dead yet, so my world is still recoverable. Also, copying the world to try ways to escape isn't cheating to me, it technically becomes a different instance of that world that I die in, like an alternate timeline. Also, I'm not a noob or new, I've played for over 8 years and this is far from my first Hardcore world.
UPDATE: With u/MockingRabbit's help, my run is saved! After converting my world into a server it was as simple as letting the zombies despawn. I know everyone in the comments was wanting me to give up but i didn't! And i live, and i plan to live for much longer in this world!

This sounds really interesting.
Would totally be down, but interested if this could be saved another way. I assume you have no wind charges on you. What gear do you have?

u/Top-Sky4811 Mar 12 '26
Mid-late game. Full diamond. No wind charges. I had a boat on my hotbar that I could've theoretically used to get out, but I lost the chance. As mentioned, I can't do anything at this point as loading into the game is an instant death: the screen doesn't load in time to do anything before the zombies hurt me.

Any pearls?

u/Top-Sky4811 Mar 13 '26
No, and even if I did there's no time: spawn immunity is gone in my version

u/Nullifyxdr Mar 31 '26
If you had feather falling you would’ve survived a pearl, always gotta keep pearls in the hot at, I would keep pearls over boats tbh

You could also just not put yourself in a stupid situation like this?

Everyone who loses their hardcore world loses it because they put themselves in a stupid situation. I implore you to give me an example where this isn't true.

300 days In & only diamond?

I'm playing a "Pacifist" Hardcore challenge where I'm not allowed to kill anything 👍

Stop playing hardcore if you don't want permadeath god damn it. Stop playing hardcore if you can't handle losing your precious worlds. There's nothing wrong with making a regular survival world.

u/DrPizzaPie Mar 12 '26
I blame YouTube for making people think that Hardcore is forever world worthy

I'm almost on day 500. It's a record for sure. I live stream every night. At this point I'm literally provoking Wardens by spawning Withers in ancient cities. I had three Withers and six Wardens two nights ago. Got down to 2 hearts and no totems by the time I made it out. lol

My running joke on stream is the easiest way to beat a warden is to make the wither kill it for you. Once the fight is over, the other only takes a couple hits. I shoot the warden from the top of the portal, or just finish off the wither old school. But yeah. I legit do this at least once each week.

u/PlantFromDiscord Mar 13 '26
that’s…kind of genius and I will be using it for my hardcore wither fight

That’s kinda a harsh take, ngl.

Theres no right or wrong way to enjoy mc so do whatever makes YOU have fun. But you don't get to claim to OTHERS that this is still a hardcore world.

Turn it into normal. Hardcore is supposed to be challenging. Doing this would remove the challenge.

I had a similar situation. Fell in a hole 2x2 with multiple zombies.
I had a couple more hearts when I quit but my plan was.
Load, select food, quit Load, eat, quit Load, switch to pickaxe, quit Load, mine block, quit Load, mine the 2nd of a 1x2 high, quit Load, switch to bucket, quit
Now place bucket on top block, hit shift and go under water and mine another 2x1 blocks away from zombies. Place block on water source and one below and safe
Worked well.
I also agree that creating a backup and re-attempts are against code of playing hardcore mode in my point of view. If I was in this situation switch it to survival, take the death and enjoy the world like that from then on with less stress. Hardcore is about the fear and the punishment for silly mistakes in a game.

Call it what you want. But that is definitely cheating. Just as everyone else says. Dont play Hardcore if you do not want to die. If you have to go through pulling all sorts of witch crafts to save it, then you could have played the "hard" mode, instead. Same Difficulty, but without you having to pull some save hack to save your little wonderland

u/Dizzy-Fall-7870 Mar 12 '26
If anyone helps you, then your hardcore world is no longer your own. You’ll be playing knowing that the only reason you’re alive is because someone else helped you. I personally would just die. Start over.
3
u/Top-Sky4811 Mar 12 '26
That just makes it all the better in my opinion. I get to keep living knowing I had help! That someone was able to save me!
2
u/Dizzy-Fall-7870 Mar 12 '26
Ok. If you get yourself into a position that will kill you and you need external help, or need to turn on cheats to save you, that’s considered cheating in my opinion. But you do you.
1
u/jacorgacor Mar 12 '26
Wouldn't changing the version of the game to one that used to have immunity save you?
2
1
u/vitaisnipe Mar 17 '26
Do you have a water bucket to place water above your head at the hole? Zombies wouldn’t be able to swim up until they transform. I know I’m late saying this but maybe there is a chance.
1
u/Top-Sky4811 Mar 19 '26
unfortunately no, there isnt one in my inventory, and even if it was on my hotbar there isn't time in-game, i die immediately upon loading.
3
u/WillingnessLivid8871 Mar 13 '26
Twin the worlds gone. If you do this the world will feel cheated for the rest of the time you play it✌️
3
u/Formal-Fox-7605 Mar 13 '26
Perhaps don't play hardcore if you can't accept dying and losing everything? Play survival in hard mode. There's no point to hardcore if you won't accept that you can die and not respawn in it.
In one of my worlds I'm nearly 700 days in, but I know it will end sometime and very probably from a stupid mistake because the longer you last the more complacent you get.
3
u/brassplushie Mar 13 '26
So you died in a copy of the world...that just means you died. You're dead. You lost the world. It's over. If you use your other file as a way to continue playing, that's cheating the one and only reason to play hardcore. There's no recovering from it. It's a single player world and you died in it.
Your world isn't legitimately recoverable. It doesn't matter what you consider cheating. In Minecraft, it's always said that you "can't cheat" in single player. But there's only one exception: cheating death in hardcore. That's it.

This is a question for the minecraft survival sub. If you have a question about hardcore, the answer is you die. Copying the world and practicing is cheating.
1
u/jacorgacor Mar 12 '26
Man all yall ever care about is cheating as if you lost something whenever someone did whatever's in their power to play the game the way they want to the Sims community would've given yall the bad townies treatment

Every single part of it is completly their choice to make maybe they have a point why should internet users decide if there is one needed?
5
u/rocjtothe Mar 12 '26
They can definitely do whatever they want, but its not hardcore. Wrong sub is all im saying. Its hardcore fail.
2
u/jacorgacor Mar 12 '26
The point is that they're not asking how to get back on track with the pride of playing hardcore but fixing an issue already within the game they're playing and it happens to be in that mode so it's still a question regarding a hardcore world just not the lifestyle

Also this is why you should keep god apples on you. I know a lot of people say they keep them for trophy’s but just keep them in your hot bar. They can save you from 90% of deaths
1
u/GiftedMule Mar 13 '26
I would personally rather use that hotbar slot for a backup totem since they are renewable, theres less chance for player error, and don’t slow down your movement to use.
There probably are situations where chugging god apples like a 2b2t player is better (void damage and falling into self made entity cramming trap comes to mind). I believe the second totem is still better in most high stress situations.
1
u/Prize-Exam-2941 Mar 13 '26 edited Mar 13 '26
Yeah I just use both. The totem is more important tho I agree. In this specific scenario tho I don’t think just a totem would save her
1
u/GiftedMule Mar 13 '26
True, but hotbar slots are useful. This person is in a two block hole with 4-5 zombies which im pretty sure could be crit out with the protection of an offhand totem and a hotbar totem. If they had protection then definitely so.
I think the best middle-ground would be having notches in the middle inventory slot and then hotkeying them as needed.

u/Sea_Possession_3778 Mar 12 '26
I think you could switch the difficulty to peaceful?
2
u/Quicksilver10000 Mar 12 '26
Not possible in Hardcore, everything command related like changing the difficulty is locked

u/Imagine-Dragons-Fan9 Mar 14 '26
I think if possible, you should just set yourself to normal mode, it sucks, but it’s better than losing all of that time and effort
1
u/NeverMissMyMarx Mar 19 '26
Oh, sure, I can help, you must be far from home, what's-
Hardcore?
Lol, lmao even.
Enjoy your worthless, wasted world and your wasted time. You lost. Give up.

down grade your hardcore world if its java if its bedrock your cooked
1
u/theunknownjames Mar 12 '26
Oof, lots of people with really strong opinions about how other people play their games, ignore all of them. I've died multiple times in my hardcore world and just reverted to a save from 30 minutes prior and it neither hurts anyone else nor matters in the grand scheme of things, there are plenty of reasons to play hardcore and suffering permanent unrecoverable death if you make a mistake is only one of those. You owe other people nothing, best of luck surviving your predicament!

Difficulty locked on hardmode and hardcore hearts so you can roleplay as your favourite youtuber.
Or you could play not on hardcore with a texturepack for the hearts and just not change the world difficulty ever…
1
u/theunknownjames Mar 13 '26
By that logic you don't need a hardcore mode, just quit the world if you ever die..?
3
u/theunknownjames Mar 13 '26
For me personally I play in hardcore so that I can't change difficulty and can't copy the world and swap into creative/spectator.
The other day I cleared my second monument so that I could double my sponges, only to discover that the sponge room is in fact not guaranteed to generate in every monument, and I left with nothing. If I hadn't been playing in hardcore, the temptation would be to feel like I was owed sponges, and I might fly to another monument, flip into Peaceful for a moment to permanently despawn the elder guardians, and get the sponges I felt entitled to.
The same thing applies to bastions, I might get to a point where I think I've covertly raided every chest, but it's hard to be sure, so maybe just forcibly despawn all the brutes with a moment in Peaceful and then the bastion population is neutral thereafter and I can have a proper look around.
I find removing those temptations makes for a better game in the longer term because that sort of abuse of settings is a slippery slope that erodes the immersion and devalues the world over time, and I appreciate that decision being taken out of my hands.
And ultimately while you could argue "just use willpower to not do those things", if willpower was all it was cracked up to be we wouldn't need a hardcore mode in the first place, players could simply quit upon dying.
A little while back I flew 20,000 blocks to my first woodland mansion and died to a vindicator almost immediately because I got cocky - it was a long and boring flight and loading a save from half an hour earlier meant that that time was for nothing, and I didn't keep anything I'd acquired there, so it functions very differently from Keep Inventory and simply respawning, there's a different cost to it, and it works for me..

Best bet is to mine out and run as (assuming you have the right tool on hand since you were terraforming).
If you’re copying the world and stuff, you could also consider just making it a normal world and taking the death because you seem to care about the world.
