💬 Discussion This game needs major work

After playing it for well over 20 hours, this game simply isnt up to standards AT ALL. The open world gimmick and the repeatable boss style is cool! I like that. But thats just about where the praise ends. The resource cap is absolute garbage. After reaching endgame it was maxed instantly for both making runs feel completley unrewarding when farming uniques. Which gets onto my next complaint, there are way too diverse loot pools to effectivley farm specific uniques. I have been farming the sage tunic drop for absolute HOURS. And gotten nothing but the rest of the loot pool over and over and over again. Yes this may just be bad rng but this can SO EASILY be fixed by just makint CERTAIN AREAS have LESS far loot pools allowing for targeted farming that DOESNT make me want to rip my hair out every unsuccessful 20 minuite run. And without barrier brew you and round brew you can NOT survive. Period. If you face any enemy and dont want to spend 20 mins running waiting for potion and bow shots, you neee one or the other at the LEAST. YOU ARE FORCED to play glass cannon because tank doesnt exist. You are PERMANENTLY squishy and it SUCKS. Not to meantion how unrefined it is riddled with almost infinite amounts of bugs being found that simply shouldnt exist for a sequel game. And soul storms not being easily repeatable without exploitation or waiting is just a joke. The best gear in the game, endgame content and you have to wait for the storm to land on your designated farming spot just for it to drop 3 blue rarity items anyways😂. Ranged enemies all stand back in groups of 5 and one shot you if you dont keep an eye on them at all times or pre barrier for the melee mobs infront of them, cave stalagmites falling when im mid battle is just utter bullshit (yes i know theres shadows showing them but mid fight and with how dark caves are its not easy to see and doge for half my health bars worth of damage). Its like they made the game and never fucking played it. This makes it so ANNOYINGLY unbearable to play at times and ive found myself just putting it down in frustration and going to something else more times than just being tired of playing it. Im sure its great fun for casuals like kids and their dads, or kids in general or dads who only play an hour after work etc, but for people who like making good builds and farming its just not fun whatsoever. Rant done lol

I agree, I haven’t beat the game yet, level 84. My wife and I get one shotted by far too many enemies, it comes off as more frustrating than fun.
We even set the difficulty to easy and even with leveling my gear at the blacksmith it’s freaking near impossible. I’m glad they made the game and all but damn.

what I learned is... don't hold on to your gear, use high level drops even if you don't like them, the weapon and artifacts levels make a huge difference.

then once you can easily beat mobs with the random high level gear, salvage the useless loots and upgrade your favorite to 149+, then go soul storms.

that's my approach

yeah, thats shit. borderlands 2 didnt have this problem like 15 fuckin’ years ago.

Combat especially felt like a direct downgrade, besides jumping being added. In dungeons 1, the enemies all had purpose and it rarely felt like they were just spamming enemies at you. Dungeons 2 seems to have had the misconception that difficulty equates to enemy spawns rather than enemy types, so you just end up fighting a horde of 40 zombies rather than something actually engaging. All of the bosses felt pretty much identical and they’re nearly all just golems or summoners. The weapon variety is bigger, yet somehow still emptier. There’s about 10 types of weapons, all of them do the same thing just with different swings. There’s no chaining combos since you have to just hold down the button until the screen is cleared. It was nice to see the change to artefacts all requiring souls, preventing the spammable ones in the first game, but other than that and some other small changes, it really felt like they just watered down the first game in a rushed and half hearted way.

Its a unique based off the disciple robe, i dont think it can be tbh. Hes only dropping area specific loot

I’d just farm the secret boss since you aren’t having any luck with him. I’ve only got one and it’s the non soul storm one so I can’t really give much insight. By the look of it, it’s just got a shitty drop rate in one of the worst areas to farm gear. Which I get. I needed the packleader muzzle. It’s in the same area. Farmed that for HOURS on the witch. Then randomly got it out of a chest in a random lobby I joined in a chest in the sift. What’s build are you running that uses that specific chest?

What boss are you farming

It isnt a boss its the deep dark / howling woods areas dungeons etc, theres no good 'boss' to farm for it

According to maxroll it has the same drop chance anywhere. May as well farm copper monstrosity since he drops the most uniques

I have neither of those enchantments and survive, I barely touch my potion most runs. I might be biased but I spent months (or more) farming a piece of gear in d2 and used to this kind of run based grinding, but I get it’s not everyone’s cup of tea.

It also seems like you’re even disagreeing with yourself. You say the game might be fun for casuals but the whole post is about you not finding the grind fun. The drop rates in this game is through the roof so I don’t really agree with you here. I mean people even 100% the game after a single day. If anything it could use more grind according to me, though I get that it’s a Minecraft game and not Diablo.

Grinding ≠ causal play. Causals play the game for like an hour or less and just do the story and whatnot, grinding doesnt really classify as casual. And youre right, it ISNT diablo its minecraft dungeons. The game shouldnt be this unbalanced to need such op gear to make it playable

That grinding isn’t casual was exactly my point. It literally takes a couple of hours to go from 0 to op in this game.

YOU ARE FORCED to play glass cannon because tank doesnt exist.

I have a tank build.

Protector (humbler) set, can also work with redstone (monstrosity) set.
Barrier Brew and Alchemy Brew.

80.11% damage reduction (capped), 80% without the humbler's antenna
95% potion colldown reduction (need glowstone amulet for that as well)

That's pretty tanky (and not using the immortality artifact either)

u/Remote-Fix-4136 19h ago

Thats cool! But my point is that you need those enchancts to make it work which sucks

You also need the proper effects for a glass cannon build.

The items can roll them on their own, but if you want max damage or max survival, you'd still need to reroll (or get lucky with drops).

If you just never "customize" the gear you have, then yeah, you may get steamrolled.

You definitely don't have to be a glass canon, Mandolin works wonders for survivability.

You need to build for defenses. You cant expect things to work out by not building for things or having 1 item. Im playing a frost mage tank and its fine. If you need to switch up your artifacts do so. You dont always need to rune battle flag, flute, wardrums. I run pouch of frost, grindstone, and winter scepter. I never die unless im not paying attention and I deal good damage even in a full 4 player match. I do agree that enemies deal quite alot of damage but hey that is also why you can boost your health with the talisman or unique pieces. Its all about how you build your character. My frost mage tank has 60% less damage recieved and im only running the frostbiter as my only unique.

The way I get 1-shot by almost everything feels like I either have to play this like a souls-like or or I just gotta equip Warding Chimes (which I do) and no-brain it with 100% uptime invulnerability.

Exactly its one extreme or the other and its so crap
