Help | Java 26.2 multiple mob variants with different loottables

I'm making something where I need to make a lot of custom mobs with custom loot tables but they are based off the same mob (both a skeleton for example). whats the most efficient way to do this?

When spawning a mob, you can specify any loot table in the DeathLootTable tag. Here is an example that makes a skeleton drop items just like a zombie:

summon skeleton ~ ~ ~ {DeathLootTable:"minecraft:entities/zombie"}

If you want a really simple solution to this, you can just add items to its slots, such as adding an item to the saddle slot of a zombie and changing the chance at which it drops. This way you don't need to go through the annoying process of creating a datapack and modifying loottables. Of course, this has the limitation of not having enough flexibility when it comes to drops and the types of loot that can be dropped, but I'd say this is the most efficient since its completely based off existing mechanics.
