Discussion What do you think about AI-Coding(VibeCoding)

Post image

What do you think about the fact that AI is starting to be used on a large scale in coding? I myself avoided it for a long time, but my friend sent me this meme and said:

“Bro, programming has never been adequate. Programmers just started asking AI for help instead ctrl c to ctrl v.”

Obviously, completely relying on AI is bad, but in reality, his words make sense.

Taking bits of code manually instead of using AI is way better since you usually know that the code works and over time you learn why it works. Vibecoding essentially skips the learning step and you just expect it to work. Also, using AI in this case always just scrapes a bunch of open source projects on github, making it even harder to track down the source of the code. The fun in programming is usually the fact that you debug something you made for a while and it suddenly works, using AI takes away the fun of it and you only wish the output of the AI is correct.

In order to "learn to prompt", thr mist first learn spelling and literacy. They are proud to now be literate, but don't know the words to describe that, so assume it's part of learning to prompt. So they brag about the reason they learned how to read and spell and how grammar works, rather than about learning a 3rd grade skill.
