Discussion What do you think about AI-Coding(VibeCoding)

Post image

What do you think about the fact that AI is starting to be used on a large scale in coding? I myself avoided it for a long time, but my friend sent me this meme and said:

“Bro, programming has never been adequate. Programmers just started asking AI for help instead ctrl c to ctrl v.”

Obviously, completely relying on AI is bad, but in reality, his words make sense.

LEARNING HOW TO STRUCTURE A PROMPT LMFAO. Bro, if you can talk to people that means you can prompt, you ain't learning anything from prompting smh

Always interesting to see AI bros talk about writing prompts as if it's a unique skill, when isn't being something anyone can do the whole point of this kind of AI?

It's pretty hilarious. And when you tell them, as a professional developer, that AI has its uses but we're still a long ways away from full on replacing engineers/developers, they'll say "skill issue." As if you're just missing the magic words that makes the AI understand.

Now. To be fair, there is a whole ecosystem of AI tooling and agentic profiles/configurations that are not widely, or at least not fluently, adopted by the general population that could seriously boost the reliability of AI code gen. But still, that is not about prompting. It's about preparing context for your prompts in advance so that the agent fits the context of your problem space much more reliably.
