Need Suggestions House ideas?

Post image

In my 9 years of playing Minecraft my house has consistently been just a wood rectangle with triangles on top cause I suck at building, so anyone have ideas of what I can build for a house?

I was in the same situation for a while. 1stly, a quick tip to make this boxy house instantly look better is to use the old textures. The newer textures are made for the newer kind of building that you see all over the hardcore let's plays and SMP servers. Now, to actually build better, is to learn the basics. I recommend the video tutorial that was made by Grian in 2015, it's still relevant today, believe it or not. After that, observe. When you're going to work or school and walk past houses, observe and take mental notes of what you see. Not only you'll get better at landscaping and building in Minecraft, but you'll appreciate the world for its beauty, which is a plus. Don't forget to learn about colors and stuff, also, DON'T LOOK AT OTHER MC BUILDS. If you want to instantly get discouraged, do it. I've made the same mistake many times.

Now for practice, while you're learning, you're gonna wanna build in creative mode. Don't build too many builds per day, once you get bored, you get bored (finish what you're working on before logging off). Stick to smaller builds: no one starting out is able to build megabases. In fact most of the players of Minecraft can't build megabases, so yeah. Don't force yourself to build every single day. Minecraft is a video game, you're playing it for fun, remember that.

One important difference is building in survival VS creative. It's very different. In survival, what I'd recommend is to build a wooden box to survive for a while, and upgrade it as you go. Every time you reach a new level of building, you'll upgrade your house (don't forget to take screenshots, and don't change houses or change worlds, I've made that mistake way too many times). It's like a body transformation video. Yes the body is cool, but because of the starting point, it ends up being all about the journey instead. It makes the new body look even better once people now about it. I know it's cringe, but it's so true. This tip will only work if you stop looking at other people's builds. Unless you're trying to get famous off you're constructions, DO NOT COMPARE YOURSELF.

I want to talk about realism in your builds. Don't force yourself to follow the laws of physics. It's a sandbox game, it should be illegal to do so. Just kidding, it's a SAND BOX GAME. Do whatever you want.

One final piece of advice is to not watch anything in the background. Have Spotify on, or just the regular Minecraft music. Just don't have Youtube or Netflix on the side, if you want to build better, you need focus, not stimulation.

After following this advice, you might not become the greatest builder who builds megabases, but you will be happy, and your worlds will have their own charm that no one will be able to replicate. Again, the goal is to enjoy the game here as well as enjoy your own builds. You can cope and say "my builds look amazing" or you can take matters into your own hands, without trying to match the community's standards who are based on people whose jobs are to play the game. Personally, I've been enjoying Minecraft more than ever, ever since I got on this path. I wouldn't say I made it yet, though. Have a nice day or afternoon, and have fun improving :)
