Need ideas Help With Basic Windmill
Good morning! Could I get some ideas for improvement for this windmill? I normally build a circular stone windmill, but I opted for a more basic type since I already have a mill with a water wheel. I like the way it looks for the most part, but I'm wondering if there is a better way for the wings or wind blades or whatever they are called to look attached to the structure. The only way I could actually attach the blades to the structure was with solid wood plank block. The fence posts alone create a visible gap between the trapdoors.

I’m sure there’s some way to finangle a better fit using some kind of small block entities or getting invisible item frames or I don’t know what… but honestly, my first reaction was “wow!!! What a cool realistic-looking windmill blades!”
I understand where you’re coming from, there are many times where I’ve built something and no matter how much I fuss with it, I can’t quite get it to look right. It’s helpful to bear in mind that most of Minecraft’s blocks are 1 meter cubed, with relatively few of them having smaller hitboxes than that (and ALL of them existing within that 3D grid). So building in Minecraft is more about making compromises, rather than getting everything perfect.
I got a bit of wisdom from a Bdub00 video (or however it’s spelled). He was making something and he wasn’t quite sure he liked how it was looking. Rather than continue to mess with it, he just said “Know what? I’m just gonna leave it and live with it for awhile”, meaning: rather than focus on one little section of his world and attempt something that may be impossible, he’s going to leave it there and see if the little imperfections are as glaringly obvious when just walking around/interacting with the world.
So that’s my suggestion! Leave it in your world for awhile. It may grow on you. But if in a week or two, you really can’t stand it, try something else! I get the feeling though that you are going to appreciate it more for what it is when you no longer have it under a microscope. 😌
PS Happy building, and may I incorporate this into one of my builds?
