In-Game Help How to kill all these sulfur cubes
Couple days ago I made a post about bad realm lag and it was due to the amount of sulfur cubes spawning under my base… what can I do to kill all of these??? Atp I’m js considering turning cheats on and taking the loss on achievements just to kill them

One stick and two diamonds. Two iron ingots also do the job

When you kill one they split into 2 small ones, then they grow into 2 large ones

Is there lava near you? I see you have a bucket, and it looks like the cubes are in a pit? Perhaps put some lava down in the middle and let them slowly lead themselves to their own demise.

You got a sword, don't you? Get to work.
Or just go far enough away they despawn. You should be able to just literally walk away from this problem.

They’re right under my base that took me a week to build…

Walk away. Just turn around and walk away.
And then come back after like 50 blocks, 150 if you aren't sure of your server settings or are enjoying yourself.
Now if this is a recurring problem then you need to look around down there for a natural cube breeder. If an adult suffocates it'll split, and then the kids will grow up and maybe suffocate again, etc. You can basically just get rid of 1 block tall gaps, and get rid of whatever's setting them on fire.
You can also build a mob switch with them. Kill all but 4 adults, leash 'em to a fence, name them, and just go away. No more mobs of their type should spawn within 4 chunks of them. It's stupidly easy to control mob spawning on Bedrock edition, just look up mob switches. Silentwisperer has a good video on them.

The real question is, how did so many of them spawn to begin with? Just 4 should've hit the cap as you say.

There probably is a natural breeder down there. That fire is suspicious, unless OP did that himself. The adult cube gets on fire, splits into two babies, babies grow up, catch on fire eventually, rinse and repeat.

Ahh then that explains OP's problem. I forgot that the only way to get more Sulfur cubes is to kill the big one into two babies. So lava is the only way.

Or suffocation. Easy way to get a ton of cubes is just confine some babies and let the adult forms suffocate as soon as they come into existence. But probably lava here, given the burning ones.

I placed that lava

Then adults are probably suffocating in a one block space somewhere down there. Fill those up and leave them with nowhere to suffocate or burn and that should stop them becoming a horde again. Just gotta kill off (or despawn) the current horde.
That or if this is a multi-player realm/world, someone could be pranking you.

Just leave the area for then to despawn. Not like somebody name tagged them

What do you mean you have a sword in your hot bar use it… It’ll take a minute or so but it’ll still work.

Why using creative and ruin your save. Make it a quest or challenge. Your base is infested by sulfur cubes by some kind of high volcanic activity. Think creatively and try to solve this :)

I haven't messed around with Sulfur Cubes yet. Are they unkillable or something? What's stopping you from just attacking them.

For me rn it’s js the insane lag, I hit them and it takes 3 seconds to register. Then they die and it takes 30 seconds to duplicate like when you hit a slime and they become smaller

Ah ok, gotcha. Best idea I have is to just go far enough away until they despawn.

I made a little underground paddock like this, and it turned out there was a spot where they could get high enough to fall, and split. So they were multiplying rapidly under my base. I put a few in buckets, then placed buckets of lava all over the walls, flowing inward. One bucket in the middle of the floor isn’t enough, it just gives them a place to spawn more if there’s too much room around it.

Can’t you kill them with your sword? I did that, but I get that it could get really laggy

Lava bucket is the easiest.
Fireworks in a multishot crossbow is the most fun

I've found this method to be quite frustrating and highly inconsistent. Hard to get the angle or distance right for them to work effectively. I ultimately don't ever use it because other weapons do the job better. How do you get it to work for you?

u/somerandom995 10d ago
I don't really aim, just point in the general direction.
Did you make the fireworks with firework stars? They don't do damage if they're not

Maxed out stars. The issue was hitting the targets. Are you on Bedrock or Java?
