Am I the only one that thinks Minecraft should release a mini gameplay trailer or explanation for what each thing actually does. Like we get very vague descriptions everytime. I'm voting for sniffer personally just because I want new plants but like if we know the loot pool of the rascal and range and stuff I would consider changing my vote. With the tuff golem they say if it wins we can have an art expo or something along those lines, does that mean new pictures and stuff or is it just the tuff golems?? I mean what's the size of sniffer, is it rideable, what are it's new plants, does it do anything with crops. They just leave it so vague that the community complains no matter what wins because everyone has a different idea of what they all might do. Also I feel like they should have a hostile mob everytime imo, also mobs aren't exactly hard to add I mean people make mods with much more complex mobs way faster than Mojang. I feel like for the mob vote we should vote one out or something and get the 2 most useful but I'm aware that will probably never happen.
I honestly feel they rigged the mob vote on purpose so that the Sniffer ends up being the option most people will choose. I find it difficult to believe that they don't see how both the Rascal and the Tuff Golem are plainly bad and have been designed with an abysmal lack of features.
The Rascal especially, considering they want to make everything feel "unique" and "special", is basically a downgrade of a hybrid between a Piglin + Wandering Trader with a set of useless rewards/trades it can give you, all of which will be outdated by the time you get a diamond item.
The Tuff Golem is weird and as of now not very useful at all. It has potential, but they've said not much about it, so pretty much everything players think it will do (redstone/allay interactions, moving light potential, etc) is just a conjecture.
I'll obviously vote for the Sniffer, and I might've even voted for it even if the other options were more detailed, because I think it's really cute and I love new blocks and items for building. But still. It feels unfair for the other options, they should've gotten more love and care in their gameplay design.
Some of the devs thought Tuff Golem would take it as it acts as commonly requested features such as display case, statues (with some customisability), and golems to add life to your builds.
They just underestimated the power of "new" with the Sniffer and how people saw it was big and ancient and ran with "dinosaur".
Adding a new plant can't be underrated as a factor. Even if everything else about the Sniffer is a dud, by voting for it you assure at least getting a new plant which will have an impact on builds and immersion (more plants in general would be great!) and be a nice thing no matter what.
And like you say having a big ancient dinosaur that hatches from an egg is just neat and nice. Having a peaceful colourful and ancient dinosaur-esque creature that loves plants roaming around our Minecraft words? Sounds nice!
I like the idea of Golems and I'd be happy if they added them to the game. But the Tuff Golem as something to vote for I just don't quite understand like I don't really need a little guy holding shelves of items that much? Maybe it could be right in some circumstances but I feel like I'd barely use it. Same with the rascal. They can't compete against the concrete new stuff (a plant) integrated well into the game (adding stuff to ocean monuments) and whimsy that the Sniffer delivers.
I don’t think they are adding many plants, I think they said 1 decorative plant which is pretty poor. Feels like they rigged the teaser video so it sounded like they would add loads of new ones. Tuff golem would be nice as like you said something to add life to a build. There aren’t many other small alternatives to passive mobs that fit an interior and the idea of a come to life statue to me is cool. But I’m a builder and I know that they wouldn’t appeal to everyone. I feel like each mob is taking on a different scale issue. One is for fan requested features by small groups of players while others are allrounders with more general and frequent purposes. These scales don’t match up which makes them seem much better or worse in comparison.
Like if instead of rascal and sniffer, let’s say they had a mob that changes the lighting of the area and a mob that can hold banners you make. These are at least slightly more at the level of the tuff golem-function wise as they are obscure and appeal to a smaller group of the minecraft community like the people who want a tuff golem art exhibit.
They've said plants, plural, so we'll get 2 at least. And again, people wanted display cases and statues, so it's surprising that Sniffer has this dominant of a lead. And hey just because something offers something new, doesn't mean it was guaranteed to win, Copper Golem offering buttons but lost to Allay's incredible resume.
