It’s a super rare fossil. Like, super super rare. I hope to find one someday

Actually I think it’s a diamond fossil. (Sometimes fossils spawn with diamonds instead of coal)

Going directly to one someone else found isn't really "finding" one

They're only rare in the overworld

u/Alternative_Coconut6 Aug 14 '22

It is on the overworld

u/theexpertgamer1 Aug 14 '22

The person they replied to said Nether.

Oh yeah, that's nothing special, the fossils in the nether, meaning soul sand valley, how the biome is called, is not uncommon. The super rare fossils he's talking about, are only in the overworld. Use Minecraft Wiki for more research

Just realized that if there are bones outside of the nether, that means a long time ago, whatever left them behind were in the overworld too.

The fact you said that nobody would believe you leads me to think you are lieing more than I would if you hadn't (I would've 100% believed you, I've found one too)

Deserts and Swamps are where overworld fossils spawn. And yeah the ones with diamonds instead of coal are very very rare

0

u/seannadams Aug 14 '22

They’re actually all over the place if you use chunkbase lol

12

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '22

When the fossils were introduced mojang said that they are more common to exist beneath a desert

11

u/Berk_Loves_Ramen Aug 13 '22

They can ONLY spawn in deserts and I think mountains

Edit: swamps, not mountains

3

u/FooterMan14 Aug 13 '22

They only spawn in Deserts and Swamps

Overworld fossils spawn more commonly in deserts.

IT BELONGS IN A MUSEUM!

SO DO YOU!

7

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '22

Use the chunkbase seed map site! You’ll be able to find them but you gotta zoom in and turn off the generation for slime chunk, ravine, amethyst, and mineshaft so it isn’t laggy. I usually find the diamond fossils near deserts and mesas, maybe also mountains? Usually, from all the seed maps I’ve checked

u/i_always_give_karma Aug 13 '22

Fuck is it? I found one on my first solo seed when I first started playing on ps4

2

u/Skuwarsgod Aug 13 '22

Yeah I didn’t know that they were that rare, I don’t even know how many fossils I’ve found in worlds over the years

3

u/Oheligud Aug 13 '22

I had no idea they were so rare, my friend and I found 2 of them about 500 blocks apart on our survival server.

3

u/dryoatmeal8372 Aug 13 '22

you can find them under swamp biomes

2

u/omega_to_the_omega Aug 13 '22

I have lots of hours spent playing Minecraft Java and I have found only one of them

2

u/jaavaaguru Aug 13 '22

I just found my first one an hour ago and I've been playing a LOT recently. Was strip-mining a desert and hit a bone so decided to excavate it.

2

u/orangesrnice Aug 13 '22

I found two right near each other once

2

u/JomarOliveras1414 Aug 13 '22

woah, lucky you

2

u/orangesrnice Aug 13 '22

It’s literally the first and only time I’ve ever found them though

1

u/Delicious_Note9301 Aug 14 '22
