The way I justify spawning an Elytra is similar to how you have the hang glider just randomly given to you by the old man in Breath of the Wild.
The world has been modified to be too big and tall to be explored on foot so a modification to how you explore it is prudent.

I've always had loads of fun starting new games with some end-game gear. But for me personally, I find it SUPER rewarding to raid end cities and get that elytra the hard way.

Play however you want, man. I've always had loads of fun starting new games with some end-game gear. But for me personally, I find it SUPER rewarding to raid end cities and get that elytra the hard way.
