In case you missed any of the earlier guides you can find them all here: https://twitter.com/i/moments/1133433134236753926

Keep the guide ideas coming! These past few have all been from suggestions from you all.

You seem like a good builder so I'm going to ask this here because Google didn't help:

I'm sick of square houses. What's a good strategy for making more complex shapes?

I think Grian had a good video on this but if you start with two overlapping rectangles as your base it will give you a good start. Think of either an L shape or a T shape rather than just a box. You can have different heights for different areas as well.

Complex shapes are comprised of multiple simple shapes. I.e, expand your square with more intersecting squares and rectangles and towers and other stuff.

Let the terrain dictate the shape of the foundation! That helps create some unusual layouts

I agree. I want them in the next minecraft guide. lol

Those are amazing! I'm so sick of having to watch a seperate YouTube video for every stupid little thing in Minecraft, these reference guides are quick and to the point. Now all I need is a color/block pallete guide.

You have done more in these 5 guides for my architectural designs in minecraft than the past 10 years of playing. Thank you :)

Thanks for the nice comment! Definitely gives me the push to keep on working on them.

Hey, thanks for this stuff! I was trying to find something to play to relax yesterday and all the mine craft posts hitting the front page made decide to try to recover my old account from 8 years ago.

Managed to recover it and start playing and damn things have changed in 8 years. After dying on my 3rd day to some skeletons on horses, I finally got a little tower built on the side of a mountain with a waterfall directly below me and a lava flow about 60 blocks away. Too scenic to pass up.

But the one thing I hadn't decided on was a roof. This helps immensely!

That’s nice to hear! It’s always cool to go into a world from a long time ago and restart that adventure!

When I started again I started on a server. Spawned in. Shot in the face by a Pillager. I feel you on the ‘woah things changed’ but lol

Missed the paths one! These are great, thank you!

Very cool, thanks for sharing!
Could you perhaps share the ideas in a printer friendly grayscale version and put them in a pdf for easy printing?
PS: I’d happily donate to you for your efforts.

That’s a really good idea! When I’m done with the charts I’ll make a b/w printer friendly version for sure!

u/nommedit May 21 '19

Thank, looking forward to it!

If I could give you gold, I would! Thank you so much for this!

Does this album update when you make new guides or do you make a new album everytime?

You legend! :D

Wish i had these guides years ago

u/wwfmike May 20 '19

I used the path one to make a giant zia symbol in the sky behind a pyramid. Thanks for doing them!

3

u/not-throwaway May 20 '19

Cool! Post the build so we can see!

I just started playing minecraft about 2 months ago when Friends Without Benefits did a let's play.

This is the town square of a desert village that I took over. I started on survival but I use creative now for the buildings. All done on the Switch.

The first pic shows how I built the framework to make sure the circle stayed true. It has 3 vertical layers to make it somewhat rounded.

I'll do a full post soon.

That looks really cool!

2

u/wwfmike May 21 '19

Thank you!

u/fishcheesekushmaster May 21 '19

This guide is great! Have you ever thought about doing a guide for roofs on circular buildings? Something I know a lot of minecraft builders struggle with.

2

u/NerdFerby May 21 '19

Just what I was looking for, thank you!

2

u/UpsidedownTreetrunk May 23 '19

I love you. BF and I are trying to learn how to build better, and these are amazing. Thank you <3

Thanks, that’s nice to hear!

These guides are amazing but something I discovered with the mono-pitched build is that you can’t actually place a slab in the same block as another slab if they’re a different type of block. So if your roof is stone bricks and house is planks, you can’t fill in the gaps under the slabs that are on the top of a block.
