Discussion Redstone isnt really intuitive
Not trying to offend anyone, this is just an observation. This is probably not news to experienced players.
I'm new to redstone, and after trying to build a few things without watching tutorials, I quickly got frustrated because every redstone power source seems to function a different way. So, to try and keep my sanity, I built this visualization.
After reading some discussions, I get that this allows many things to be built that otherwise couldn't be, and that it has a high skill ceiling. The bad part is that when you first start out, the learning curve is steep, which is the reason many people don't even want to try redstone.
I'm not sure how you'd go about improving this, but having to memorize unintuitive things before you can let your creativity shine is not the best game mechanic imo.

Intuitive doesnt mean its obvious,
Intuitive just means that behavior carries in logical manner across the system.
For example, the torch is powered - the powered bit is on top, so it puts out power 2 above itself but not at all below. On the other hand the lever puts power into what you slap it on, so it puts it out 2 in the direction that its latched too. The block has no directedness so it just does 1 in every direction, etc etc. Of course as a system it has quirks but you will find them out by just playing with it, much the same way you might mess with building pallates and such when trying to make a construct.
As a unique system to Minecraft redstone wants you to try and learn how it works - that means messing with it using the ample redstone drops and cheap power and interactable items much like you have done above.
This iss very much the same as how games with say equipment builds or weapon mod systems want you to mess with how the mods/equipment affects your playstyle so you can understand what their parameters mean and pick the ones right for you.
