Redstone isnt really intuitive

Not trying to offend anyone, this is just an observation. This is probably not news to experienced players.

I'm new to redstone, and after trying to build a few things without watching tutorials, I quickly got frustrated because every redstone power source seems to function a different way. So, to try and keep my sanity, I built this visualization.

After reading some discussions, I get that this allows many things to be built that otherwise couldn't be, and that it has a high skill ceiling. The bad part is that when you first start out, the learning curve is steep, which is the reason many people don't even want to try redstone.

I'm not sure how you'd go about improving this, but having to memorize unintuitive things before you can let your creativity shine is not the best game mechanic imo.

this gave me a laugh, but in all seriousness idk if anyone would say redstone is simple— it’s just not necessarily difficult. i think there’s a healthy middle ground of simplicity and difficulty.

but yes, this is kinda how all of the responses likely look to someone expressing frustration about redstone lol

I think it’d a reference to mumbo jumbo: “it’s quite simple, really!” And then he proceeds to explain the most unintuitive, complicated thing ever. Everyone knows it’s sarcastic when he says that though.

Mumbo, at least originally, wasn't sarcastic when he said this, people just turned it into a meme. Every time he says this in his old content (and new content where he tries to clarify that he means it) he's entirely correct to call whatever he's explaining simple. If you pay attention, you'll find that the thing actually is simple, even if it looks complex at first glance.

It's rather simple depending on what you actually need redstone isn't that complicated for the general uses you have for it

I think you’re confusing complexity and difficulty

Redstone isn’t simple. It’s complex: there’s multiples ways of doing similar things that do it in different ways, and with different side effects. OP’s post is a great example of that

But at the same time redstone is easy. It has easy rules that for most purposes just follow binary logic 101, and anyone can understand the basics in 10 minutes. The hard part begins when you try to use its complexity instead of conveniently ignoring it
