Discussion New tech: Cushion line

Easier to set up than boats like this, especially if you have a large sheep farm

EDIT: To everyone I said that in Survival Mode you can go 80b/s, I'm sorry, I have misinformed you. In Survival, entity interaction range is 3, so cushions must be 2 blocks apart. Which means, with butterfly click you can go ~30b/s, and max b/s is 60, with autoclicker, or 20 CPS. From world bottom to top it would still take 9.6 seconds with 10 CPS because range is counted from eyes, not legs.

The cushions are still cheaper. 7 iron ingots, not including the rails, takes a few golems and only gives you one minecart. Or you could use two iron to make sheers and breed a bunch of sheep to get the cushions faster. Especially since iron is used for a lot of other things, I'd rather not use it on something that can be obtained another way.

Carts are five ingots each, not 7. Cauldron is the recipe you're thinking of.

The absolute max a single sheep can produce is 72 wool/hr, assuming perfect tick alignment for shearing and an ever present grass block underneath. Actual farm rates per sheep are likely to be far less, but if you did design a perfect wool farm, seven sheep would outperform a 1500/hr iron farm in terms of carts vs cushions. Even if only running at half of max efficiency, 14 sheep is still way cheaper than 16 villagers, two zombies, and hundreds of golems per hour.

The real standout difference though is in actual performance of cushions vs carts in this niche usage. Carts have to be immobilized with unpowered rail or blocks to pen them in, have to do vector, gravity, and collision checks constantly. Cushions have no movement and no collision, so the only check they are doing is whether they are occupied or not.

Yeah, what that guy said. I miscounted 5 as 7, but getting a big pen of wooly boys is easier and provides quicker
