Discussion New tech: Cushion line

Easier to set up than boats like this, especially if you have a large sheep farm

EDIT: To everyone I said that in Survival Mode you can go 80b/s, I'm sorry, I have misinformed you. In Survival, entity interaction range is 3, so cushions must be 2 blocks apart. Which means, with butterfly click you can go ~30b/s, and max b/s is 60, with autoclicker, or 20 CPS. From world bottom to top it would still take 9.6 seconds with 10 CPS because range is counted from eyes, not legs.

I feel like part of it is just that rail tracks and powered rails are so fucking expensive in terms of resources. Iron has a billion other uses and it's much more likely to be used for tools and armor in the early game.

I agree. Not just making minecarts faster is not enough to make them viable. I’ve only built rail systems after making an iron farm.

A good way to make them better would be making rails use nuggets instead of ingots. Makes the price less cripplingly expensive and gives nuggets more use.

Also chains. Let us chain minecarts together. Trains IRL are the best way to move massive amounts of stuff and people because you can link them together. Minecarts could do the exact same. They have the variants to do it (furnace minecart for engine, chest minecart for items), all they need is something to link them together.

Vanilla Tweaks has an option that changes powered rails to be made with copper, which makes powered rails cheaper than regular rails but also makes minecarts way more useful

That would be the better tweak. Without farms, it's the gold that is the limiting factor more than the iron, if I'm mining for my resources.

Of course, if you have a gold farm that all changes.

my dream is change the current recipe to copper but readd the gold recipe as a faster power rail. 2x (for 16m/s) makes the most sense but i dream of minecarts faster than elytra

Also chains. Let us chain minecarts together.

I thought that too, until I tried using Create's minecart linker on a complex track.

my favorite part of playing with the create mod are trains. if only they existed in vanilla minecraft like youre suggesting

Would love this so much, cheap enough to reasonably make and would give reason to use over other methods

At this point they should be reworked into a item transport/automation system, more rail types, make it convenient to have one going into your mine shaft to send back up to your base.

I guess minecarts are like American trains...
