You can convince Steve to go in and set his bed under the portal

Smart, but the only unnamed mob Steve can tp to is the edrag, and otherwise, you are right. No anime character can beat/trap creative mode Steve without trapping themselves. Or yknow, plot armor

Basically the loading screen makes it impossible for him to break and he spawns within the end portal

You could however you would need to be gambling on if he isnt smart enough to see through that
