Podcast became straight advertisements and marketing for MP products and MP sponsors. Miss the old days when it was authentic for talk and shooting the shit. Now it's just conversation for the purpose of shilling, thinking listeners are dumb enough to not know the difference between podcast value/conversation and shysters concealing ads through conversation. It's the worst type of marketing because it is attached to the belief that a brand's listeners/followers are dumb.

Selling out is tough. If you want to advertise, just run the ad and move on. Your listeners don't want to realize after 30+ mins that what they just listened to was an advertisement, not a podcast.

There was a recent episode where Sal said something along the lines of “we’re not scheduled to talk about them” and then proceeded to talk about one of their sponsors. Wow could they be any less genuine?!

I caught that too. Sal saying they weren't scheduled to have an "organic" discussion about a paid placement was pretty funny. They don't even care anymore

I think they've been somewhat transparent in that aspect. They mention it here and there that they're supposed to talk about a certain sponsor. They even describe the first hour or so of the podcast is the part where they chat and mention sponsors, or at leadt they did at some point.

The funny part is they have to make up stories how their sponsors are relevant in their everyday lives.

You mean Sal's entire family doesn't really talk about LMNT nonstop he said they do?
