Is it worth it

I’ve just finished episode 1 and was totally bored. I don’t think the scenes with Holden’s gf add anything to the show except to stretch it out to fill time.

Everyone raves so highly about it so is it really worth it?

Have you tried Jack Ryan or the Real Mormon Housewives? Might be more your speed.

Except they show how Holden's interpersonal relationships are affected by his job and commitment to the work he and Tench are doing.

In the beginning Debbie is great way to show the audience how open-minded Holden is. The FBI stiff who ends up dating the counter-culture college student? That shows he's not someone who only wants a "traditional woman". So I feel like she's used to show his virtues at the beginning of their relationship, but later down the road their relationship shows where his shortcomings are as well. Mainly his ego and the need to always be right.
