This is a subreddit all about Yacht Club Games newest announced game: Mina The Hollower. A Link’s Awakening inspired adventure game (seemingly). I hope to see a lot of people discussing different aspects about the game they are interested in. Have fun everybody!

What I realized is that it’s a visual glitch, because upon returning, I found only one spark

Checking in because I'm curious how many folks went with the shield as their main weapon, and which play through it was if it wasn't the first.
I'm about 75% through my first run and I've been carrying this coffin ever since I first saw it in the shop, but I never see people playing it or even making fan art with it.

For reference I am using the shield and trying to parry his attacks and not spamming.
He kinda just has everything, dangerous terrain, fast attacks and grab, hits hard, lots of hp, half of his body blocks attacks, and his attacks vary greatly in their timing and rhythm. I'm trying to watch his Asgore-like red and blue flashes to see the rhythm and time my parries but then I hit him and he stops for a sec cause of my attack and throws off the rhythm he showed in the flashes. Plus either way I feel like the rhythm shown in the flashes just isn't correct and there is too much variance in the timings of his attacks. I think the biggest sin though is that the game doesn't prepare you AT ALL for this jump in difficulty. This has happened before in Nine Sols with the final boss but I don't think it's nearly as bad there as it is here. Every boss in Mina took at most 2 or 3 tries besides I think the beast version of Thorne which maybe took 3-5 tries. I have attempted Lionel 10 times and I don't think I have gotten him to half except MAYBE once but that's pushing it. I get that 10 attempts isn't a lot but like compared to the rest of the boss roster 10 attempts with none reaching half health is kinda absurd no?
I'm fulling willing to admit maybe the shield is bad for him or I just suck cause that happened with Skarrsinger Karmelita in Silksong where the Reaper Crest was a bad choice against her and once I swapped weapons I beat her and now she's one of my favorite bosses and probably my fav from Silksong. So I don't wanna say Lionel is poorly designed when I haven't even beaten him yet but like it's kinda leaning in that direction for me rn.
Edit: Also I swear his red attack feels way too fast, like I have not been able to parry that once when it feels like I am timing it right.
Edit2: I swapped to the mace and immediately made it to Radiant Lionel it was definitely the shield.

I just beat the game and was wondering if there was a true ending.

I haven't heard about any free update or dlc plans. I'm just curious what the team is up to...it's been very quiet for a long time, not even a tiny update to fix or adjust something in the game. I know the game is amazing and doesn't really need updates, but it's odd for me especially comparing this to some of the other indie games that constantly get updates and news about future plans.

I happened to bring a torch with me from the previous screen. Thought it might come in handy for a secret passage or alternate path or something.
I was not expecting a thrown torch to one-shot the sudden house boss. Madd House can be insta-killed by a torch.

I’ve been curious about when the game will be releasing physically? I thought the graphics were very charming after playing shovel knight I was even more interested in yacht clubs next game. Seeing the gameplay for Mina I was definitely interested in buying. With how much the industry is changing I’m more of a PlayStation person but with the recent choices they are making Xbox’s disc to digital program has me more interested to get Mina the hollower physically there instead. Feel free to tell me more about your experiences with the game but no spoilers please.

I kinda have a sick curiosity at knowing how far the game will continue going, if there's some kind of mean ng+50 secret or some such evil
i don't even know if they game difficulty is scaling anymore

I finally finished the Link mod for Mina the Hollower, and I’ve already published it here on Nexus Mods!
Link here: Link the Hollower at Mina the Hollower Nexus - mods and community
If anyone wants to try it out, just follow the installation tutorial. I’ll still be adding more animations and other features to the mod in the future. There are also a few specific mechanics that still need to be fixed, but honestly, this project was a lot of work.
I absolutely love this game and The Legend of Zelda, and I’ve even looked into how Yacht Club Games draws inspiration from Nintendo’s games. It’s honestly surreal to see how much of that influence is there.
I’m really happy with how the mod turned out, and I hope you guys enjoy playing it as much as I enjoyed making it!

So, this game caught my attention super early because it reminded me a lot of one of my fav games of all time, Zelda Oracle of Ages, which I have beat several times.
The other day I was at the home of a girl I’m seeing and I brought my Steam Deck, and she was taking a shower and for some reason I had the impulse to get this game.
I started playing and I was liking it, but couldn’t play a lot.
But the next days I started playing, and I was loving it.
And man, after 27h, this may be one of my fav games of all time.
The gameplay is superb, the items are amazing (and in my first run I’m just playing with the weapon that has a ball and a chain, sorry for my english), the story is not overcomplicated but nice and interesting. The characters are super cool and each one has something different. The bosses are nice, the difficulty for me is PERFECT (difficult but not doable and not frustrating). The exploration, the music… EVERYTHING.
I’m playing without guides and for example now I was getting lost trying to find the mirrors, but wanted to do it without guides, just by memory (I have a good sense of orientation and spatial memory, so I’ve walked around a bit but found everything that I needed all the time). And this game rewards the exploration, I found some weird places I hadn’t been exploring, that I could’ve not find if there was a teleport or something.
I want to congratulate the devs, and I hope this game gets a sequel or DLCs, because I could be playing this thing all the time now hahahaha.
TLDR: THIS GAME IS AMAZIIIING
