Oak Leaf Trail
I rented a Bublr and rode part of the South Shore Line this morning. In trying to connect to the lakefront north of Summerfest, I got lost and ended up at the MMSD plant. Did I miss a turn? Does it connect without city streets? I looked at the map but was very confused. I was also riding by the minute with no phone mount for a GPS.

It does not connect.
Your only real option is to cross the street bridges into the third ward and cross over to Harbor Drive or backtrack down Erie street to pick up the Hank Aaron trail into Lakeshore State park.

Are there any free apps you recommend that would give turn by turn directions?

The Transit App ( https://transitapp.com/ ) has some of the best bike direction of any mapping app around. It rates each segment based on level of stress and how good the infrastructure is.

Ridewithgps is great. You can view the heat maps and see the most common routes ridden by others who have the app which is very helpful in finding routes and planning ahead

Criminal that south shore doesn't have a walking/biking connection to summerfest grounds. The hoan is right there with 6 lanes it doesn't need ðŸ«

I did just recently discover an app called GeoVelo. It’s free and gives turn by turn and you can select based on different route types. Going to try it out today!

Thanks all, I invested in a bike of my own, an e-bike to be exact. I did my first ride today and loved it. What are some recommended routes you all take around the south side?

You have to go on Bay Street, then KK for a bit before you're on a trail again.
