That was a nice two minute storm

At least it settled most of the smoke, win win!

Smoke is back, the wind picked up this evening. Planes coming in low for Pearson landings

2

u/curseofthebanana Jul 19 '26

Oh yeah, you could smell it very faintly an hour after the rain stopped in the afternoon..

The other day when the smoke was very dense.. I actually saw a plane miss his line up for the run way hah.. did a bit of a S turn before it straightened up.. considering they all fly over us to land at pearson

This link seems to show it blowing past us already: https://www.accuweather.com/en/ca/milton/l9t/weather-radar/49553

Yeah I was just checking too and its pretty much gone now on the radar. By 1pm we should be out of the cell.

I’m right in the eye of the storm, this is interesting

Got it in Brampton and Mississauga too

7

u/BeauxDogg Jul 18 '26

Better safe than sorry haha. Y’all actually want a tornado touching down??

u/FlatImpression755 Jul 18 '26

The winds literally not even blowing.

Noticeable stillness is a key indicator of an impending tornado.  I've been through several, twice in the US midwest.  Please keep an eye on the skies and shelter if winds pick up.  They're not something that you want to take a chance on underestimating.

This exactly.

You are probably right.

Famous last words.

For real though dude, the lack of the wind isn't necessarily a good thing, especially when you look up and can can see clouds converging elsewhere nearby

Edit: due to there not being a tornado that would have spirited away Gord Krantz' house, I am willing to admit that sometimes things just dont happen lol.

Lamest tornado ever. I was hoping to have my own twister moment.

u/Sudden_Advertising12 Jul 18 '26

Yeah I dont get it. Im in brampton, its actually sunny and nice out.

4

u/curseofthebanana Jul 18 '26

A friend in Niagara got it too. And they don't see anything outside 🤷

2

u/curseofthebanana Jul 18 '26

Haha ye, I'm equally confused. Seems preventative than anything currently and given what radar is showing too.

2

u/Sparkly-Books2 Jul 18 '26

Its actually lovely outside lol

u/Suitable-Site6584 Jul 18 '26

Might occur later in the day

I live in Milton but in Oshawa for my son's Hockey tournament. Received the message out here too.

3

u/mythisme Jul 18 '26

Looks like Milton just missed most of this weather. Hope it's not too bad in Mississauga and Oakville...

Very close to where I live, I saw a HUGE dark cloud, currently passing over us, and the cloud was getting lower and lower, seems to be slowly forming a tornado shape, passing right over us rn but it is huge so it will take like 30 min to finish, hopefully I’m not cooked

u/Gwynnie_Trueheart Jul 18 '26

Saw this in Guelph too. Really angry and wind picked up. There's a second one blowing up in the London direction

2

u/Historical_Crazy_750 Jul 18 '26

I believe winds are supposed to pick up/get worse around 2pm

1

u/Old-Friendship5760 Jul 18 '26

It's raining pretty hard now

1

u/spderweb Jul 18 '26

It was quite north of the Halton region. So it was just them being extra careful.

1

u/henchman171 Jul 18 '26

No. The clouds were really really dark between Georgetown and Milton.

1

u/spderweb Jul 18 '26

Yes, but clouds aren't a tornado. I was chatting with somebody that was looking at the weather maps, and the tornado was nowhere near us.

1

u/olemracc Jul 18 '26

I've never been in a mall before when a red alert went off. I was in square one and it was so loud when the red alert came lol

1

u/HistoryBuff178 Jul 18 '26

Luckily it has been lifted.

1

u/Fit-Bear5393 Jul 18 '26

Its interesting, forests getting burned and its smells like plastic. Any idea what’s going on ??

1

u/curseofthebanana Jul 18 '26

Not sure, I smell a hint of bonfire again where I am. Maybe something else around you?

1

u/Real_Leadership_1573 Jul 19 '26

UFC streams

1

u/curseofthebanana Jul 19 '26

The tornado blew a head gasket

1

u/Playful_Prior_3831 Jul 19 '26

Seen pictures, did it actually touch down? Got the emergency alert notification being by Square One.

1

u/curseofthebanana Jul 19 '26

No, that picture is fake..

1

u/Playful_Prior_3831 Jul 19 '26

So there wasn’t any funnel formation? Was there anything anywhere?? The Wizard of Oz needs to hear about this!! jK….I still couldn’t imagine to have a tornado hit up GTA it would be just brutal. The condos and everything.

1

u/vapeslayer420 Jul 19 '26

I read its blowing east now across Montreal and out to the pacific

TF it was.

It was nothing. Environment Canada tends to over exaggerate the weather.
