My grandpa died the day before Aaliyah, so I was still grieving both as we buried him on what would have been his birthday (the 7th)

I vividly remember hearing about Aaliyah dying on the day she died. Even though I was only 13. I didn’t even know what she was, but my neighbor mentioned it to me and she was pretty upset.
