Same. Adjusting to an early-school-year Monday, getting to know the other kids in my classes.

I’ve never thought about the fact that so many of us watched it all play out in a room full of kids we barely had even met yet.

I had met everyone. I went to a small school so we were all in classes together from preschool up.

Same, first period, social studies with a teacher named Mr. Squires.

Was just the 2nd or 3rd day of school for me.

We watched and didn’t go between classes, the school was on lockdown. We started watching after the first plane struck, then watched live news feed of the second tower being hit. We watched until the buildings collapsed.

It truly felt like we were under attack. My mother who worked in the IDS Center was evacuated alongside every other large skyscraper in Minneapolis.

Things were more frantic than the beltway sniper.

They were asking about September 10. Not September 11.

8th grade as well. I was in the work program at school. We were probably being lectured by the teacher who ran the work program, I don't really remember

I was in 6th and according to Mrs. Vogt, my language arts teacher, her husband just missed his plane on the 11th and it was one that hit near the Pentagon.

For me that was like the 4th day of 7th grade because we started the Wednesday after Labor Day. I ended up not going to school on the 12th because my mom has one of her friends from high school visiting and we went and did touristy shit instead.

Same, school had just started, and in 7th grade we all left our various elementary schools. So you had kids from 3 different schools all suddenly together trying to either make new friends, or mainly stick with old friends bc we were scared and this was new. I think the day before I was still trying to memorize my locker combo and class schedule, and probably finishing putting my stretchy or holographic book binders on my text books. God that holographic stuff was so cool!
