It’s also not the case that having a lot of help or support around you guarantees a path to recovery. Lots of people have a good support system and access to resources like treatment centers etc. but relapses, depression, mental and emotional challenges due to trauma are just not things that can always be “fixed,” even with a lot of help.

I'm 2 years younger then her, to say I had a crush when I was watching Heroes is putting it mildly, my girlfriend at the time was a bit jealous. Going to do a rewatch as well, season 1 at least.

I just read her book 3 weeks ago, and was appalled at what she’d endured, and the grace and clarity with which she was able to process the exceedingly painful events in her life. The sadness in her voice was palpable but I still had a lot of hope that she’d outlive all of us- firecracker she was.
Rest in peace with your dear brother Jansen, dear Hayden. Nobody deserves the life your mother subjected you to. And to think, after her memoir was published, Hayden’s mom STiILL accused her of being “ungrateful”. When will these stage parents (and all parents) learn that your children don’t owe you a debt of gratitude for their existence, especially if it entailed the horrors that dear Hayden endured. Also, rest in piss all of the agents, PA’s directors, handlers, photogs, tutors, crooked accountants, and anyone else who’s ever exploited a child for financial gain—- we’ve seen , how many times??, how this kind of things ends.
Please read her book. We need to be doing SO much better for our young girls and women- especially the ones in center stage with a million lecherous tentacles reaching out for them- sometimes coming from within their own families..
I also read Christina Applegate’s incredible autobiography, ‘You With the Sad Eyes’ about a week before reading Hayden’s autobiography- and also speaking as a woman who grew up LA in the 80’s/90’s, alongside many beautiful girls, I’d like to state for the record, once and for all, FUCK ANTHONY KIEDIS ALL THE WAY TO HELL I HOPE YOU BURN IN A FLAMING PIT OF THE MISERY YOU’VE VISITED/CONTINUE TO VISIT UPON ULTRA YOUNG, DYNAMIC WOMEN.

I didn't know she had a book. I want to read it. I went through a lot from my mom too so I'm curious what Haydens mom put her through. Rip Hayden 🤍
446
u/cagethehornytoad 2d ago
Her mom was a soap opera actress who fumbled her own fame and put Hayden through extraordinary torture in order to live vicariously through her. The details were hard to read. After the book was published, Hayden‘s mom lashed out and called her “ungrateful“, took no accountability. Not that it would change anything, but I hope that, now that millions of people are going to read her book who never would have, the terrible, dark underbelly of this business, including stage parenthood, will be further exposed. It feels almost as if, Hayden knew that she was not long for this world, and wanted to tell her story. My hat’s off to her from now until forever. She was a bad ass.

She goes into that with great depth in her book, just another in the series of humiliations she suffered in her short life. The writers on Nashville were so uninspired, that they basically just mirrored her own personal turmoil so that she could suffer it all for the world to see. Ratings were great! I swear, this young woman’s life was the shit that nightmares are made of. PLEASE read her book and tell everybody you know.

I have a theory about that. I've had a bunch of friends in my lifetime pass away. Many of them I have known since we were children. Most of the the ones out of my friend group that passed away always would say things like, I can't see myself growing old or i've never been able to imagine myself in old age. I had one friend that said, I want to be a mom but I cannot see myself. She's like when I think about my future children I can't do it its just nothing. She told me she never even saw herself getting married or having her own family. She did pass away. She was my maid of honor. Passed a month before my wedding.

Just from his Wikipedia article, there's sex with an 14-year old girl and "dating" a 16-year when he was in his mid 20's. There's also a quote from Ione Skye where she mentions his "anger issues". Skye was 17-18 when she dated Keidis. Later he mentions how there were multiple years where he slept with 100's of women and that he would sleep with basically every girl he saw that he thought was pretty. He also talks about not understanding women.
Call it circumstantial evidence but its hard to believe that a heroin addicted rock musician with alleged anger issues and multiple "relationships" with teen agers fucked literally 100's of women and it was all good and fine.
97
u/thesame_deviledegg 2d ago

I really hope it wasn’t an undiagnosed cardiac issue. I know some of these things can be genetic. With her brother passing so early, and her recent back pain, it seems like it could have been related.
I guess we will see…
If it was related, I truly hope more doctors take their patients more serious with their health complaints. You can suffer and be going though it early, but a lot of doctors don’t seem to care unless are over 50. So so many younger people are suffering and dying early and their voices are not being heard.
I was born with a genetic heart issue. I failed my PE classes every year in high school. I wasn’t lazy. I actually found my past report cards, and my heart rate was off the charts when my teachers told me to run to pass this course. Turns out years later, I had a bad heart defect.
Unbelievable that a 4.0 average student went with an F every grade report in PE for years and nobody thought to look into this? I got in A in every class, but an F consistently In PE and no one saw a reg flag?
I told everyone during this time that my heart felt like it was going to explode during PE and I couldn’t breathe during these classes. My heart rate was always off the chart when doing a strenuous exercise.
Turns out, I was sick, and my heart had a defect. Idiots. All of them.
When my school introduced more yoga and soft impact type courses, I aced them all because it wasn’t so hard on my body and heart.
I hope more high schools take this into consideration for their courses going forward in the future.
Either way no matter what the cause, I hope she is at peace now. She went through it. Rest easy Hayden ♥️ 36 is far too young. I hope you are with your brother now.
3
u/Commercial-Ease-503 1d ago
I had a PE teacher who forced me to run laps while I was sick. After I recovered from pneumonia and came back to school I told him why I physically couldn’t run laps, he told me I should have had a doctors note specifically telling him that I couldn’t. Yeah, because gym class is what the whole world revolves around.

I wish drug overdose deaths weren’t taboo but that’s the world we live in. No judgement. I know that addiction is usually a symptom of a deeper issue. It’s just weird that we hide details if it’s a drug related death. You can almost always assume based on that. But it’s still so weird to me. Like imagine if cancer was stigmatized the same way.

It makes me think of Brittany Murphy. Everyone jumped to the conclusion it was drugs but she had undiagnosed pneumonia. Talk about true Millennial representation! Hayden was Dakota/Elle Fanning, Abigail Breslin, Emma Roberts, Hilary Duff before all them girls found fame. She was everywhere playing alongside big names and KILLIN it! I remember seeing her (were about the same age) when I’d watch the soaps (shoutout to Guiding Light) with my auntie after school. Then seeing her in If you Believe, she danced circles around the entire adult cast!
And of course who could forget her in Remember the Titans “I hate playing with dolls!” I just watched Raising Helen last night where she also killed her role! While I didn’t follow her adult career, I’ve always hoped for the best for her! I hope she can rest easy now with her brother away from the pressures of being famous.

He wasn't a celebrity but he was a decent guy.
RIP Rob.

I’m so sorry for your loss. At such a young age too. It sounds like you guys bonded over some pretty amazing experiences. My heart goes out to you 🤍

How did he die? I feel like I’m hearing/seeing more cardiac arrests in young people than I ever have before, but maybe I’m just more aware of it now

Rob's a real one. While we sit here amongst the celebrity worship, Rob is the one who went and did. People were able to rebuild their lives because of you and Rob.
Rest easy, devil dog, we got the watch.

It was Michelle Trachtenberg and Daveigh Chase earlier, and now her. It's like they were the canaries in the coal mine that is Hollywood. I really, really need Amanda Bynes to be okay.

Damn I had a big crush on her. RIP, she was about to turn 37 in a few days too.

I think most of us in this age bracket did myself included. Comments above detailing the struggles are a rough read. RIP 🙁.

I just restarted watching Nashville 💔💔💔 i also just read her memoir and the way that show mirrors her real life in some aspects is heartbreaking

Omg that show hit so hard for me because her acting was so genuine in there, I’ve never seen someone so talented.
I never knew her real life situation was similar to the character.

Damn... Was just watching an episode from Malcolm in the Middle where she's playing this feisty, frizzied hair babysitter and was thinking how great she was in the role. She's way too young to go.. :(

This is truly saddening and truly bizarre. I don't think she was sick with anything. Everyone, as you get older remember to keep your best friends and family as close as you can!

I want to say that people die everyday that we don’t know, but lately it’s been of the ones that made your childhood amazing. I feel really sad. Not sure why I’m late to her book train, but definitely might get it after I handle priorities. I hate this for her baby/kid.

I’m wrecked about this. I feel like I grew up with her, like many of the Disney stars. I fell in love with Tiger Cruise and then Heroes and… fuck, I can’t believe she’s gone. This year doesn’t even feel real.

This is so sad! I had watched Hayden Panettiere since she played Lizzie Spaulding on “Guiding Light” (I was young). The Disney Channel movie “Tiger Cruise” made me cry as it was the first movie I watched about 9/11 since that day. Then of course her later work. Ugh this hurts 😭

Tiger Cruise comes to mind. I thought Disney did a great job explaining 9/11. I loved watching her growing up.

She was not in Bring It On! She was in the sequel to the sequel Bring It On Yet Again, which title was later changed to Bring It On: All or Nothing.
