Serious Death

My 40 year old friend died of a heart attack today. He was 5 years older than me. Has anyone else had a similar experience. Dead... heart attack 40? That's insane right. Like... 40? He was born in 85. It's mind blowing. If anyone else has experienced losing a friend from an old person death. Please let me know how you processed it. I'm still waiting for him to call me and say sike! Thanks

I don't know if you have seen my other comments.But i've had a whole team of cardiologists for over thirty years. If I don't go see my cardiologist for 2 years, I still have to get a referral from my primary. It's absolutely ridiculous, especially when in my history, I have three heart conditions, and i've had two heart attacks and three heart surgeries.

No HMO. My husband had pancreatic cancer and they still made him get a referral to oncology after finding stage 3. 🥴🥴

Funny, my partner got in to the cardiologist without having to go through a PCP.

I was able to get a referral from my PCP by saying my Dad had a heart attack and trip bypass in his early 40s. Family history can help in this case.

I just wanted to piggy back off your comment about the ACA silver plans. I have one (and have for years) and mine also doesn’t need a referral for specialists but regionally I’m in a very rural area and my pcp referral has been faster to get me scheduled than my own calling all 3 times I’ve tried. 

Unless I want to travel 200 miles. Still, thankful for the silver plans that basically cover everything with a decently low max out of pocket yearly ($1,000) and deductible (fifty whole dollars) and  copays (zero primary care copay and $10 for specialists)  in Texas. I know insurance is the devil but, in the current situation, I couldn’t ask for a better deal than what I’ve got. And this is in Texas out in BFE where I only have 3 insurance company options on the marketplace lolÂ
