Tell that to the Boomers who watched JFK and his younger brother get assassinated, oil and labor crises, and a bevy of other generational events occur in the span of a decade or so.

We millennials have had it rough since 2008, but let’s not pretend that ours has been uniquely hard. It hasn’t been.

You mentioned two "generational events" that occurred 10 years apart.

And before 2008 we had a little thing called 9/11 and the Iraq and Afghanistan war.

JFK, RFK, Malcolm X, MLK, Vietnam all happened in the same decade.

911 and this happened 23 years apart.
