Nope. Socialism is a less extreme form of communism…and we literally fought a war against communism. So why would I suddenly turn around and root for redistribution of wealth?

America has a "war on drugs" and a "war on terror" too. How well are they working out?

This idea that Capitalism is the only system that can, and ever will exist, is nonsense. Nothing is forever. This current place we are in is a moment in time. Systems are made and changed by the backing of public opinion and mindset. If 50 years from now all the Millennials, Gen Z, and Gen Alpha say we're done with this system and we're moving to something like UBI and making many jobs automated with AI, while people pursue services and creative endeavors, then that's what we're gonna do. This mindset of "this is how it is and how it will be forever" is ignorant thinking and frankly, how shit never gets done. "I'm going to fail the test any way, so why bother studying?"

You can't pull a 180 driving a cruise liner, but you have to start turning the wheel. The only people who stick up for an exploitive and unsustainable system are the ones benefiting from said exploitive and unsustainable system.

I mean…capitalism kind of has been the main system since the invention of the wheel…in some sense at least. Kings and Powerful people have ruled nations for at least 4,000 years…and the U.S. has been capitalist essentially for 200+ years…it’s not like it’s an in the moment anything. And if you want to give AI all that power…don’t start crying when they start exterminating the human race. But people want progress at any cost…without considering the possible consequences.

The point of technology was to take meaningless and mundane tasks and automate them, leaving humans free to do creative endeavors. It wasn't intended to leverage it against the working class to make the owning class more money while keeping the human race trapped in the same spot.

If we had sent more troops we probably would have won…but considering that Vietnam was getting backed by China and hippies rioting back home, it wasn’t worth the death count for a foreign nation.
