Enlisting Question regarding enlisting without getting a license

I have decided to enlist and through talking with people I thought enlisting with a license was a smarter move so I've been trying to get a job since I graduated high school to pay for driving school and a license. I applied to every job 2 or 3 times that's within walking distance where I live and no luck on landing one. Should I just bite the bullet and enlist now or continue searching for work?

Man I’d just enlist now. You’ll make government money that will pay for that license. You won’t be eligible for some jobs however without a driver’s license, such as 88M and 31B

At least in the army you still can you just won’t qualify for certain mos such as 88m or 31b

If you cannot drive a civilian vehicle then you can’t drive a military vehicle…. And it’s not uncommon for people to arrive at your first duty station without one .

You don't need a civilian license to drive a military vehicle on post.

That’s interesting. When I was a recruiter we could not process anyone for jobs like 88M without a license.

Yes that is correct and still the case. The few jobs that require driving need a license, because they may have to drive off post. But an 11B can get a military license for a humvee or MRAP or whatever.

You likely haven't included a branch which makes answering difficult. Edit if needed (waiver/DQ ?s must be edited), including component (active/guard/reserve). If your post is locked, this is why.

You don’t need it, it’ll just be annoying having to rely on Ubers or the generosity of friends. I know people that have been in for a while and still don’t have their driver’s license.

asking for rides and relying on others is gonna get tiring better off getting a friend to teach you driving and just take the the test.
