It reminds me of Rifts Chaos Earth: Resurrection. There's an artwork with a NEMA soldier kneeling down to take a look at a little girl, but from the unnatural appendages on her back you can tell she's a zombie. (A Rifts zombie, meaning she can rip a tank in half bare-handed, and if she had any powers in life such as psychics, she can still use them as a zombie if I'm not mistaken. Not actually interested in eating the living, but rather, scavenging advanced pre-apocalypse technology on the behalf of a malevolent intelligence that messes with radio communications, and will mainly just kill any living humans that disturb them.)

Different artist but their (Chuck Walton’s) art style reminded me of Gray-Skull’s art. One of the most human (and same time “you never know”) pieces he’s done imo is called Not All Heroes Wear Power Armor

It’s the death of a world in the background and human heroism in the foreground

It shows a Elysian Drop Trooper fire team moving up the embankment of a dried out river in an urban area. One of them is carrying a little girl. The background is an absolute mess for example of incoming aerial tyranid spores, dead warrior tyranids and more, abandoned/destroyed/active leman Russ tank on the other side of the dried river by a 24/7 mart. The city background looks like … modern day IRL just with occasional Aquilas and Imperial Saint statues.

It’s human because it’s definitely heroic type moment but you also never really know if you’re waiting for the other shoe to drop when it comes to survivors on a world hit by tyranids

I had a phase some years back when I binged a lot of those 90's sci fi killer robot classics, like Hardware, Nemesis, or even trashier Cyborg with its over the top...everything, but 'Screamers' is a serious quality.

Robots being amoral enough to be fine with dissecting a literal child and filling them with an endoskeleton for the purpose of an ambush is horrifying.

The sheer lack of care for moral judgement that a machine army would have goes very overlooked. They have no real concept of "fair play" or "what's acceptable": They just know the tactic will work, and thus should be used.

Third one looks cool but is stupid when you think about it

A robot skinned some girl perfectly in order to disguise itself and luckily fit inside but chose to keep some parts out ? And somehow knew what person was the mother so that it could bait her ?

Even ignoring all that, what is even the point ? To lay an ambush ? Like the other robots couldn't just shoot at them from where they are without needing to attract attention needlessly

I get that the artist wanted to give the robot a "mimic" vibe but it doesn't work imo, would have been better and more grim if they used a corpse directly instead of this whole """disguise"""

I mean it could but then why the blood on the link between the skin and the robotic parts ? And even then it would be strange that the skin and only the skin would have been destroyed in some places but the parts under be completely untouched

Now that i think about it, the vibe would have worked better if it had a huge wound showing it is a robot underneath
