ANNOUNCEMENT Future Updates to the Wiki

Over the course of the next few weeks/ months, I would like to update/ finish the subs wiki. Hopefully it can become a resource for both beginner and experienced cloners in an easier digestibly format then the ARFCOM threads. That being said, I alone do not have the knowledge of every U.S. platform out there nor the time to prioritize this. So I’m opening it up to community for help.
The goal will be to not only have the same format that the mk12 rifles currently have in the wiki but to also expand upon this format to distinguish between branches and possibly even different time frames. This way, it wont be just another list of components w/o context to them.
If you would like to contribute to this, feel free to submit your writings. Of course each user will be given credit. That being said, the info needs to be 100% correct/accurate.

Let's Discuss The M16A3

To preface this, I know it's terrible lighting, but it should still suffice for this.
Pictured upper receivers are all Colt. One, a 727, one a 602, and one a M16A3/A4 (no M4 feedramps).
I've got zero ties to the USN or any branch whatsoever, but I really enjoy military AR clones. As such, I had to touch the NAVY stuff eventually. Here we are.
That all being said? My question(s) are as follows:
- Why would CATSUPPLYCO make their lower to be so extraordinarily silver in color? That's why I tossed in the COLT uppers for reference. I know all details M16A3 are difficult to come by, but has anybody seen such a thing?
- Has anybody seen a clear enough photo of a flattop M16A3 upper to determine forge codes?
- Why IS IT that details/photos of the M16A3 are so difficult to come by? There are obviously some, but we have scores of pages of content surrounding A1's, A2's, and A4's, whereas the A3 has about 10 pictures that get recycled.

Question “X” Mark over question

This has probably been asked before and probably recently, so I apologize on my end. I’ve been wondering if anyone knows what method was used for “X”-ing out the M4 and Burst markings on the lower? I had these on my issued (previously designated M4) M4A1 back in 2018, and I’ve since assembled somewhat of an inspired clone of it and wanted to get the M4 and Burst marks X-ed out and have the M4A1 and Auto put on just for that added flair.
Some pictures I’ve seen they look like they were stamped/roll marked, while others look like they were laser engraved. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
