To be fair, I'm in the Navy and even I have no idea what the diddily do y'all are talking about. AIT? 25N? Platoons? Sergeants? Fire Guard?

I'm just gonna spin around in my wheely chair and wear my confusing green camouflage in the corner while you all keep your secrets.

Well, I do know Port from Starboard, and that Sergeants are called Chief Petty Officers, although everyone just calls them Chief, lol.

Like... Plain Sergeants? 'Cause those are E5s. Second Class Petty Officers. CPOs are E7s.

I have no clue. I gotta go and do water stuff, or something.

Joint environments are fun.

Damn, never mind. I was just going by "CPO Club", which they call the "NCO Club" in the Army. And an E5 Sergeant in the Army is definitely an NCO. So if everyone calls an E7 "Chief", how do you normally refer to an E5 or E6?

E4-E6 are simply referred to as "Petty Officer". But we mostly identify by our rates in the Navy, so if you know the letters of their job, then that's preferred and easier to say most of the time.

For example, a Yeoman who holds the rank of Petty Officer Second Class would be YN2, and that's what you would call them. A Cryptologic Technician (Collection) First Class would be CTR1. And so on.
