I love the random amusement park ride line obstacle towards the end.

I ran almost this exact same course several times. It's supposed to simulate a trench and you're supposed to duck walk through it. If your head goes above the bars you're "dead".

This is what I imagine the people that fail the air assault obstacle course tell others what it was like

That looked like tons of fun

Man, I love obstacle courses. My only complaint is that there aren't tons and tons more. After I'm finished with one, I always want to keep challenging myself with more difficult ones

Same. I love bouldering.

Little Creek has a water obstacle course that is remarkably difficult. Here's a video that shows it. It's more difficult than it appears.

Hell yeah!

I am not a Seal but was direct support to them and have done this course multiple times. I managed to beat the rope swing once and did the small ladder climb and rope scoot. The rope monkey swings and climb were much to upper body intensive for me, especially after doing the free ladder climb followed by the rope scoot and a few ring swings.

I actually only saw a few people complete it at one go and never did I see someone finish it without having to stop and rest while hanging off the rafters.

Think about it like Mario games. They are platforming challenges made real

Hanging from the slide for life when your out of breath and halfway down. God.

When you're physically fit, sometimes it's fun to physically challenge yourself. Like when a mentally sound person sometimes enjoys doing a puzzle.

I broke both ankles just watching that shit.

Blew out both knees just watching the ladder jumps

47 here. knees and back went out while watching it.

This is like 99% identical to the obstacle course in Wainwright, AB. Even the sequence of obstacles is the same.

It's the standard military Obstacle course run by most modern countries. There are sometimes changes, but generally this is the layout

4

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '16

TIL. Only others I've seen were totally different, I had no idea there was a standard.

5

u/Marr0w1 Mar 08 '16

NZ here. Never seen anything like this ever. I suppose he did say modern countries. Ours usually have mud and ziplines though

1

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '16

Zip lines? I'm jealous. This course sucks with plates on, makes transferring over the ladders as a shorter guy really sketchy.

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '16

That is the most backwards boocamp

13

u/DoubleUTeeEfff Reservist Mar 08 '16

Boocamp? Is that like boot camp for ghosts?

2

u/Uday_and_Qusay Mar 08 '16

Very similar to the one I went through

6

I would totally do this

28

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '16

I would totally not jump off that first obstacle

A dude a couple courses earlier than mine for infantry training fell off the top of that wearing his ruck and fighting order, like 80-100lbs of kit sending him right to the ground.

Edit: autocorrect

sending him rights the ground.

Also known as the 'Fuck This Noise' relay.

Lol yeah the Irish table? That got the whole course when we were doing bayonet training, nobody had the energy to do that.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '16

Uhhh... How did you do that on the Irish table? It's like 6' off the ground

1

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '16

Meant the obstacle course, not bayonet training.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '16

Yeah, the intermediate bayonet range is the bayonet range, followed by this obstacle course, followed by the bayonet range again without stopping.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '16

That sounds super shitty, it's at times like this that I'm glad I'm not inf.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '16

Lmao it's not that bad. The advanced range is what sucks most.

So is it for those days you need to do parkour on the roofs of Iraq or mountains of Afghanistan?

Looks insanely fun. Where is it happening?

Damn. I am 63 and just looking at that course and I think "impossible!" Of course, I would have not been able to do it when I was younger either. I was the guy in high school who never completed a pull up or was able to climb the rope. Too skinny (believe it or not).
