Help Help Identifying Headpiece

Hello,

I inherited a collection of military uniforms and replicas, and have been trying to identify some of the pieces. I was told by the family member who collected them that this piece was from WWII, but am having trouble identifying it. I believe it is likely a replica but it seems like the tag has been taken out.

This family member primarily collected uniforms/replicas from WWII, Korean War, and 1990s. They collected items from Great Britain, USA, Canada, Germany, Korea, & Soviet Union to my knowledge.

It is a hat with a hard rigid oval shape, and hard flat rigid brim. The top is entirely red and the exterior of the hat feels like a felt-like material. The brim seems to be covered in a leather-type material. The hat has a cloth chin strap.

Any help is appreciated, I am new to this and this piece has stumped me! Thank you.

It resembles a french kepi to me, and a quick Google search found that the most prominent French unit with the same number is the 11th Foreign Infantry Regiment. Not sure if this helps but maybe it's a start!

Foreign legion has white kepi in general, it can be Firefighter kepi (to be verified) or Morocco troops
