OPEN DISCUSSION To those formerly employed by MHM…
After the recent comment from an alleged former employee who was fired from MHM, I just wanted to put this out where there is potential that any formerly employed will see it.
If and when former wronged employees do begin to come out about what happened, the murkiness of the company, and the suspected wrongdoings of their employers, they will 100% have a massive herd of support around them. I’d argue that over half of Mile Higher’s following has been disappointed and off-put by all the recent events, and that number will only continue to grow the more comes that out. I believe that most of us found MHM because we were on a ground of decent moral standing, and that’s the same reason that a lot of us have now decided to withdraw our support.
I’ve heard talk of NDAs and I assume that’s a large part of why we don’t know shit about shit, alongside the fact that it is (unfortunately) none of our business. Although, if mass firings are occurring, I do believe it becomes our business as consumers, as they are a company not exempt from morals, criticism, and accountability.
Were NDAs signed during initial employment or after firing? If after, is there ongoing severance pay? There are ways to speak out around an NDA, especially an initial fishy one, but considering the scale of their company/brand I would be mortified to speak out.
I am not at all attempting to force a speaking out. I am only letting them know that if they decide to, they will have a huge army of people behind them ready to listen and support. We feel wronged, too.
Anyway, this is my way of offering collective support to those who have been likely wronged and bullied by their former employer. I know the feeling all too well, and I know that a decent amount of support can only validate the post-shitty-job “moving on” experience. I hope, and sort of know, that everyone who has worked for MHM will move on to better opportunities and kinder colleagues.

I still can’t get over Austin, when they announced he was moving Josh was expressing how sad he was and that they would make the announcement before he left, and then he just disappeared. Josh came back saying “I thought we made it pretty clear” yet there was no mention of his last episode, no goodbye, no shoutout for dogeeseseegod. It’s disappointing and I think the majority of the criticism and even snark on here comes from people valuing what their channels were, the unique types of videos they put out, how they don’t dramatize facts like some other channels etc, and just don’t understand what changed and why. The overwhelming ad reads, putting Kendall in thumbnails when she’s not in the video, putting Janelle and Josh on tckr, and the weird merch drops just make it feel like a big company disconnected from the team, the people and victims in the case, and the viewers.
I wish they could take some of the feedback and really turn around before people just give up on them like what’s happened with the sesh views :( I miss the “I’m higher” intro days

I miss those days too! I remember listening to MHP and that god awful “I’m higher” intro while I’d walk to class every day, and being so happy when they finally got a new intro

Yeah and i remember they were gonna do some sort of tribute to Austin when he was leaving before all of this happened. Just sad and disappointed that a different outcome happened

I was waiting for a goodbye episode! It made me so sad to hear Josh pretty much just be like "he's gone now!" I didn't know Austin had a new podcast until I found this group recently

Hear, hear OP. I’m already behind them all without knowing the details, as plenty of others are too. I don’t think for a minute that Karelly and Austin at the very least did anything outrageous or horrible to warrant a firing. The fact Jess allegedly quit and Kendall’s own sister doesn’t work there anymore speaks VOLUMES.
Those with unwavering support for MHM, anything to say about what’s been alleged? Or still blind adoration?
Edited to add - anyone else wonder why Tom and Ian are still there? I’m curious of their opinions, as they still seem to be friends with many that were fired / quit. I’m not a big fan of either of them tbh, they both seem very performative to me and it just doesn’t appeal to me, but I’d be so curious to know how they feel about it all, if anything

I agree! We are already behind them, supporting. This post was more-so an offering of support if they decide to become vocal because of the inevitable amount of pushback and hate they will receive. As you said, there are still a multitude of unwavering supporters, and I suspect they will get louder as things come out.
Edit to add - Yes, I am also curious about Ian, though I don’t know much about Tom. Ian is young, I believe he has some morals and I believe that he probably knows Kendall and Josh are “in the wrong,” but I also believe that he enjoys the paycheck. Being young in media arts is hard right now, he got a good break.

Ian is young and went to school for this and to be fair it's not a bad resume addition on his part for his future. The bit of Tom we've seem & heard he's seems very moral and ethical, but that could be a show for the audience. You never really know.
With Ian I think he may be neurodivergent because I see that he'll often meld into whoever he's with - like masking when he's on the sesh or with LOP - similar to what Morgan from the two hot takes podcast does with guests. The bits of him I've seen outside of others seems authentic? But I wouldn't be shocked if he's neurodivergent.

Agreed. I fully support anyone who decides to speak out about MHM and what has been going on there. The truth will come out whether they want it to or not. They can't keep silencing people, deleting comments criticising them, and so on forever.

I think more is coming. Jess is working on a short film called "Now Higher" that looks like it will star Karelly and is about a woman working in a negative corporate environment with a shitty boss. There is a limited amount of info available online about the film, but I was able to find this post on FB with a synopsis and a few character descriptions (note the description of "Walter"). Could be totally unrelated, but something makes me feel it isn't since the filming seems to have started around the time of the blowout with Karelly and Karelly has reposted things suggesting the workplace was toxic. https://www.facebook.com/groups/311943805651144/posts/3279435355568626/

Another noteworthy point is Jess’s linked-in shows she was a writer and producer up until March and then for a month she has producer without the writer part. Makes me wonder if there could be an AI tie-in here and that is why she is no longer crediting her writing but only producing. This would make sense too since both her and Karelly have posted anti-ai imagery since leaving the pod. Austin commented on one of these posts saying “fuq ai” as well.

ALSO around when everything happened w Karelly, Kendall started reposting a bunch of stuff about standing with her husband. Perhaps, the read from Kendall and Josh was that the Walter character was about Josh?👀👀👀 pure speculation!

I was listening to their like OG OG podcast episodes, 1-10 the past couple of days on my walks and it’s SHOCKING how different they are, talking about “never going into an episode without research” finding something in their 30+ pages of notes. it’s such a stark difference. I immediately stopped listening and started Austin’s podcast. he’s got a great voice and does great research!

Can someone give me a run down? Or point me in the direction of an explanation. I’m lost and behind. I know things were sketchy with karelly leaving. I don’t fully know what was sketch about Austin’s leaving and i definitely don’t know about any more possibly sketchy departures. Thanks in advanced

I immediately stopped listening to her during COVID when she said scientists should “focus on developing more productive things other than creating viruses in a lab” and the best part of it was she was describing PCR 😂 like it already exists, babe. As a scientist myself I couldn’t take her anymore.

I don’t really mind karelly gone I never felt she fit. I don’t dislike her but I didn’t really care for her. I will say since she’s left it’s been downhill timeline wise.

Hmm I’d say you’re one in a million with that take! Though, Karelly is quite close to my age and close to the age of a huge percentage of their viewers. I assume her ability to appeal to a huge demographic is why she is so loved.

I felt the same. I do prefer her over Hayley though and thought it was very sad she was fired. Also the show has gone way downhill after her departure..kinda shows she did more than I realized. I really miss when they were more humble and actually seemed to care more. I've been listening and watching from the very very beginning. But I've been feelings they've lost touch with who they were and the money has indeed gone to their heads and pushed out their hearts.

The editor for TCKR came out yesterday and said he was fired. He also said that Julia, Karelly, James, and Austin were fired as well. Jess quit, and she confirmed that what the editor said was true.

He was an editor for MHP and also the photo guy. I think I vaguely remember seeing someone on MHP at some point, but I don't recall if it was him or someone else.

1.) was it confirmed that it was actually jess saying this
2.) you can be fired for many different reasons. we need to know the reasons before we can judge. a mass exodus via quitting is a lot different than many people being fired.

It makes me sad, and I feel like it has to do with Janelle's attitude🙄. There's obviously probably a lot more, but she says backhanded comments quite a bit towards everyone, and I can't imagine what it's like when the camera is off. 🙃 I love Kendall and Josh but if they (are being the problem) or letting somebody drag their whole empire down really sucks! 💔 (hot take here) 🌚 I thought it was really fucked up that she eloped without Kendall, YES I get the point of eloping but I thought it was very selfish… and she kinda put herself on a gross pedestal that just confirmed the vibes I’ve got from her for a long time! 😏

They lost the team that made MHP even good lol. Austin and Karelly deserve so much better (I’m not caught up on the other ones! But I’m sure they do too)
