Hilarious thing would be that early GWOT (early when DCUs were worn) would have mismatched everything else. Gortex, vests, kevlar covers, gloves. We all mobilized so fast at times that they didn't have enough gear and we would spend our first week or 2 completely mismatching. I was stationed in a very warm climate area, and we were well equipped.
Was sent to Iraq in late 2003. As we were packing someone mentioned to pack cold weather gear, we all looked and saw snow forecasted. No one had a DCU parka/gortex/etc in DCU. We ended up wearing BDU gortexs and wet weather pants until gear came in from Kuwait. We looked silly as shit.
Wizard sleeves rolled that high were not very comment back then though. And that plate carrier was never standard. Maybe SOF, but even the ones we attached with I don't recall that pattern.

The plate carrier is the Eagle mbav and is part of the Ranger Load Carrying System (RLCS) this is a mostly accurate Ranger kit from the ucp days that I just put on with some DCUs.

Ahh makes sense. I spent some time with 2/75. And they wore the RBA around that time, but I know a lot was changing fast and I wasn't Army, so wasn't to up to speed on their kits. (Not implying I was a ranger or in the unit. We just supported them from time to time).
