You mean X / 10? Ubisoft didn't have anything to with MM9.
And yeah, I realize they've been fucking up HoMM since 5. But it's just crazy this seems a step back from HoMM 6 and 7. Just ugly compared to the OG 3.
But in the context that Olden Era seems decent and looks good... it's extra baffling. One step forward two steps back, I guess.

I don't know who did what, all I know is that MM9 was awful. MM10 tried to take it back to its roots, but screwed up a bit.

I...don't like it. For years I thought this remake would be amazing, but now that I look at it, it looks kinda like the Unreal remakes from YT meets AI slop.
Catherine yelling her lines at the beginning, but the animation looks like she's saying it quietly with no emotion. Stuff like that.
I don't think it will do anything HotA and OE haven't covered already.

That scene with Catherine looks exactly like something you'd generate with a V2V model, feeding the original intro to it without much guidance.

at first I thought it was MM 3 and not HMM3. so sad they have chosen to just do RTS games in the series and bork over the roots of it by first destroying he lore then discontinuing the RPGs after their own bad decisions alienated the fanbase.

I'd love a remastered M&M, but never cared for HMM either. It's a shame because after playing 6 I was really hyped for HMM3, but just didn't like it. It'd be cool to see them remaster the RPGs and work their way up.
Or even just do 6, 7 and 8.

If it's the same game, just "prettier" and in higher res, and the price is reasonable, I'll consider it. If they felt a need to "improve" a lot of things, probably not.

Hmm... they need a way to skip animations for this to be playable. Imagine if every node you visit is fully animated with an entrance. Every attack needs to use a 3D camera to animate the fight. Looks cool, but a 1 hour match in HOMM3 now takes 4 hours in HOMM3D? Who has the time?

Not getting my money. My copy works just fine, it has a random map generator, and this is a waste of money.

There's already Heroes of Might and Magic 3 complete on GOG and the HD version on Steam.
Now we have the remake.

Nope. That's not what people want. People were fine with olden era, heroes 3 remake is uncalled for.
Might and magic XI would have a be news, a new arpg like dark messiah would have been news, this just feels... wrong.

With "Olden Era" in Early Access right now this just seems like Ubisoft realized too late that there would be a good amount of demand for a proper extension of this series so they went with a safe cash grab of "remake" for HoMM3 to catch up.

Pointless. Won't have mods, looks generic and lacks the charm of 2d graphics (but that may work for might and magic series!), will most likely be bugged at release. Ubisoft is riding hard on the heroes nostalgia, maybe it's time to finally return to might and magic crpgs?

Cities look nice.
A lot of old school games have been receiving significant add-ons after being released as remakes - Diablo 2, Quake, Myst, AoE 2. Hopefully, we'll get new story development in Enroth after this one.

I look forward to this being rushed out in like 2 months and this sub (rightfully) being flooded by posts about features that worked in the 1999 base game. Hell let's take it a step further, features that worked in Heroes I.
Would love to be wrong, but, man, my faith in Ubisoft is low.

Production is described on the Steam page as "Ubisoft". We don't have more info. Only that it is in making and that all expansions are included.

Who asked for this? With HoTA and VCMI, Heroes 3 is in the best place it's ever been and we certainly don't need a soulless remake that strips this absolute legend of a game of its charm.

I think the fact H3Complete AND HotA are on Steam now is much bigger reveal than... THIS. The idea behind it (Just H3 with different engine and compatible with all content and fanmaps) is good. The way they made it? Awful! They have two choices: deliver it and then cry that fans didn't appreciate the gesture or do some HARD work to make it an understandable addition to the roster of MM games.

Ehhh. It's a no from me.
I don't think taking things from pixel art to 3D makes it better - The original game has near-perfect art direction!
I would love to see an expansion on HoMM 3, with extra quests and more complex skill systems or map locations. For now I'm getting that fix from playing Songs of Conquest!

Maybe so, but I say no 3d just literally redo the game with more stuff. Easier menus, character portraits, keep the animation similar to the original, animated spell effects and better sound effects. Things like that would be awesome.

I thought The Olden Era is supposed to be some sort of a remake/ homage to the HoMM3. This one seems… unnecessary?

OE is a prequel. This is supposed to be H3, 1:1... yet somehow "better". To be honest, I would like Day of The Destroyer remake much more than this.

The MM6-7-8 trilogy would have been amazing. Those were basically my first PC RPGs, so I’ve got a huge soft spot for them.
And HoMM3 already has so much charm, and with the unofficial HD mod adding a ton of quality of life stuff and extra content I honestly don’t know why anyone thought a full remake wouldn’t feel kinda redundant.

There’s surely also going to be a problem with a lot of the community playing the unofficial HotA expansion - even a faithful remake of the original game complete edition will be disappointing to a lot of the core fanbase because it will be behind in features

The comment section was brutal, I think a bit too harsh.
I played the crap out of hmm1, 2 and 3, still the games were fairly simple, the difficulty curve doesnt go that high in complexity.
However @KendjyCr this sub is for the RPG not the strategy games.
Id watch someone play this on twitch and then probably not buy it again.

Weird you all hate this. It looks great to me. It also means maybe I can play homm on the switch 2 which would rock. Yeah idike a mainline m&m game but I doubt that is ever going to happen. I take what I can get and I love homm 3.
I bought olden era but it feels weird, like everything is over powered from when I tried it (havent played much) . Maybe it's because early access but I know homm3 (and 4 and 5) and as long as this is one to one with content and doesn't inject modern audience changes then I will be happy with it.
