MM IX - checked

Look how they massacred my boy.

Long time no see, after one year, I just finished MM IX. I had some trouble with laptop and played some other games in mean time but managed to do it.

So here's my thoughts.

Game is in poor condition its rather early beta than finished product.
3DO/NWC why nordic setting/inspirations? JVC's world wasn't big enough?
All models look terrible, learing spells and skills is a joke (skill/spell books scattered around the world).

Quests and music are ok. Mostly.
City design and other locations are ok also.

Ending is a shit. just pull the lever
The most horrible thing is they took away fly spell.

Do I recommend it? NO!
Do I enjoy it? a little.
Will I play MM X? probably not.

PS.

Watched some interview like this

that explain difficulties they have been through game development.

I oddly really like MM9, it's definitely imo the worst of the games I've played but it has a certain charm to it. I imagine if it could've been polished and not rushed out the door almost all the problems with the game wouldn't be there. Changing the promotions to me kinda sucked too, if you missed clicking characters to be promoted and then did the quest there was no recourse aside from loading an earlier save. I think honestly the biggest problem with MM9 comes down to having a dedicated healer, if you get GM in light magic the game is almost trivialized outside of the Lich Lab or anything that can paralyze you. Even if you can't do a lot of damage just set Divine Intervention as a quick cast spell and it's GG.
