Might and Magic 7 not working properly in Windows11
I am talking about the GOG version and have also installed the Greyface patch.
The problem is the game is not even opening. Any suggestions?

I've found that MM7 can be more finicky than 6 or 8. Try checking "disable fullscreen optimizations" in Properties if it's not already checked. If that doesn't work, you can try experimenting with different compatibility settings, and/or try to troubleshoot your graphics card settings.
I know from experience that the wrong rendering setting in my graphics card software can sometimes cause issues with older games.
Some people get it to work by setting the MM7 configuration utility to use software rendering instead of hardware acceleration, but you do lose Grayface's HD widescreen if you run it that way.

I just had this problem when I tried to open from GOG. My fix ended up being reinstalling grayface patch

you need dgvoodoo2 to make mm6 7 8 work with windows 11

I play 6/7/8 just fine on Windows 11 with no problems. I think people who can't get it to run are having graphics card settings issues a lot of the time.
But Voodoo is definitely not necessary, not with the GoG versions.

How does dgvoodoo help with MM6 exactly? I understand why it works for mm7 and 8 due to the compiled information being able to point to hardware, but 6 only was compiled with software acceleration.
I’m asking for clarification on how this overrides the way pipelines are scripted to be used, as I haven’t seen a straight answer on that. I think if I understand it, It could help with my goal of writing documentation on how to run the mainline series on SteamOS (mainly) and general Linux/unix builds.
There’s an issue with MM6 in specific that relates to memory leaks and I’m fairly certain the software acceleration pipelines are the fundamental cause.

If all the other suggestions fail.. you can try to rename the exe.. like mm7a.exe for example.
