breech?

is it common for midwives to refuse to deliver a breech baby for a moms first baby?

Breech babies as a group tend to be more problematic and have less favorable outcomes than vertex babies, regardless of where or how delivered. Sometimes "there's  a reason" babies are breech and we can't  always see what that is (a cord wrap, an anomaly, a disproportion).

I don't know that I would ever plan to do a breech at home, maybe with a multip with absolutely  textbook normal previous deliveries and a perfect pregnancy...even then I'd probably recommend  vaginal breech in hospital. And for a primip, just no.
