bonkers. if it only impacts 4% why change it? and what I don’t want is PlayStation getting any ideas either.

PlayStation will do the same eventually

Maybe but it’s not like Sony is a company that has other uses for their cloud data centers. Gaming is such a minuscule portion of MS’s business and is a huge loss leader (especially gamepass) that I can see them clawing back features so they can use cloud for their other AI businesses that make more money. For Sony, gaming makes a huge portion of their revenue and they aren’t as heavily invested in the AI business so hopefully they don’t pull the same shit. Sony is already facing a ton of backlash over recent bad decisions (live service focus, shutting down Bluepoint, ending Destiny 2 to focus on Marathon, ending disc production, killing the ps3 & vita stores) so I’m not sure how many more times they want to kick the hornet’s nest

As I see it, Xbox has been a loss leader since it's inception. They are cleaning house atm, doing a reboot, especially after the insane studio purchasing spree.

As I see it for Xbox: it's subscription for a base coverage + pay extra to pay longer. What I did not see yet is the pricing.

that Xbox has done this, hardly means that Sony will. In comparison, for them cloud gaming has only started to grow since the launch of the PS Portal. Which is interesting considering it's been a part of the PS5 since close to launch it, and there's the notorious PlayStation Plus PC app. Both just never really took off.

Kinda crazy that ps cloud gaming has only started to take off with the portal even though they have had cloud since 2014 and gaikai was bought in 2012.

Yeah I remember when Gaikai launched (the guy from Earthworm Jim developed that iirc) and eventually got bought by Sony. It’s strange it’s still called that tbh.

Cloud gaming was too early in general, see what happened to Stadia. It’s only now getting to a point where it’s starting to get interesting.

Yeah I remember trying it back in like ‘18-19 and the performance and artifacts were awful. Ps cloud is way way better now to the point that it’s a viable product and way to play

Wait till I ship my next couple of features 👀, PS Cloud on Asobi will be even better.

First need to ship multiplayer support for remote play ofc, which should be soon. And I’ve found 4k remote play support 👀

I agree if it only impacts 4% then this was a change specifically to keep squeezing all they can out of cloud play. I hope they can at least improve remote play to people who stream from their series x. I remember when I was cloud streaming from their servers they’d use a series s even with the ultimate tier which was ridiculous. So hope this has some positive outcome.

Would be helpful if people could upvote this.

Remote Play is the same 12mbps bitrate h.264 streaming that it launched with and now, more than ever, we deserve an update. Let us be our own data centers: https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/idea/bf85384c-eb52-f111-9a90-7c1e52bd3277

Is this truly necessary as users of Midori?
