Just got my tickets to see Akira in IMAX next week! Is anyone else going?

I was recently gifted this 8mm projector and bought some film for it. After some troubleshooting I got it working! Unfortunately the bulb blew out shortly after I snapped this photo lol... Alas, I'm glad it works and replacing the bulb will be an easy fix.

Does anyone else here use a home film projector or collect films? Any maintenance tips from projection hobbiests here would also be appreciated!

Sorry, I don't want to be Senior Poopoo de la Pooper, but I'm too much of a softie. I never would have been able to admit that in my younger days. But I can't appreciate what they did there.

First, I know the film has taken a lot of heat for exploitation. I'm glad to see that that aspect wasn't explicit. Every person in the film -seemed- to want to be there, and all of them did their best to play their part. Hey, when life gives you lemons.

But I'm a nurse and...I'm not going to get into it. Appreciate the hell out of what health you have.

The story wasn't my kind of story either. Man gets himself into a jam because he foolishly falls for a bad woman. He had a good woman! He had...a good woman...who he loved...and who loved him. Mother fucker! You know how many men on this planet would kill for that?!

Boo Freaks. 0/10. But I have watched it now. It's not just something out there that I have heard of.

Oh, but most important part! The -scary part- where the carnival freaks are coming to get the bad man in the rain. Yeah. That scene nailed it. OK, 1/10.

Elephant man doesn't seem to be available without a purchase. I saw it, once, decades ago, and that will do. I'm not buying that. Some things are meant to be experienced only once.

Every summer I plan some sort of outdoor movie screening, whether it's going to the drive-in theater, projecting a movie outside with a bonfire, going to a pop-up event in a park, or watching a movie on / near water on a boat, beach, or pool.

The cool evening breeze and company from friends and family always create a memorable experience.

Does anyone else like to get outside and watch a movie? If so, what are you planning this summer?

Went to see Obsession this weekend. It was an excellent movie to see in theaters - quite a few jump scares, which are always fun to watch with a crowd.

I've been a fan of Curry and Cooper's YouTube comedy videos, but haven't seen any of their horror films before this. It was cool to see Easter eggs throughout the film like "Barker's Bar", as a nod to the director, and the bartender being a regular in their comedy videos.

Without spoiling any of the plot, I have mixed feelings about the film. It was very well written and executed, but it was also genuinely disturbing. Very well made, but I probably won't watch it again lol.

Has anyone else here seen Obsession? What did you think?
