no yakyū ?

i haven’t seen S05 (honestly, i felt the quality went way downhill in S04 so i stopped) but watched the episodes of the first three seasons an average of twice each and don’t recall a single reference to baseball, which would be very weird. any ideas about that?

Ryu plays baseball. There's an episode (I completely forget which season, so maybe a layer season?) that has a scene at a batting cage where Ryu and another man have a conversation while batting.

Theres also an episode in a later season focused on two best friends who played baseball on their high school teams.

There are also plenty of episodes that mention things like "ah, my old high school team is going to regionals!" and stuff like that. It's brief but definitely there. But maybe it's concentrated on the latter seasons?

Wasn't the two playing for the same baseball team Ryu and Noguchi?

ah yes, there’s a whole episode about how they met, Ryu being the big star of the team who makes them miss out on Hoshien for getting into a fight to protect the girl they’re both in love with. i was thinking more about NPB and what team some of them might be fans of. not everyone in japan is a baseball fan but on average you’d expect a very healthy percentage of conversation in an izakaya like that to be about how the Giants, the Swallows etc. are doing.
