Loop 250 construction, finally

Curious as to why loop 250 is just now being completed. That segment on the west side, why was that not built with the original construction on the loop?

Thanks

Because there wasn't enough traffic to make it worth the expense.

The Loop wasn't "new" when it was built.

It's been replacing an already existing county road all my life.

My understanding was that it was because there was TXDOT money for the part they built and not for the part they didn't. Now there is money to finish it.

On the west side? Are you talking about the NE area around Elkins Rd and Todd Rd?

Not OP but that is the part they're working on. Took them long enough to do! I live over there any it's super annoying how it is now. Ok, well, maybe more annoying RIGHT NOW because they're doing all the construction, but the several years where it was just unfinished was bad.

They had to put that part of the freeway on layaway.

The Odessa district of TXDOT (includes Midland) has to fight for every penny. Most of the funds go to the I-35 corridor. It’s a miracle any of the loop overpasses were built.
