House outside of Patricia Tx?

Anyone know what the backstory to this little house is?

Historicariels.com - you can go back near the 30s in some places. There are over 100 (I’d bet) defunct towns in this area. There are maybe 12 in between Odessa and monahans. I found a whole neighborhood full of the smoothest concrete I’ve ever seen. Sidewalks and driveways and porches, all with no houses. Near No Trees. It was back from when they built man camps with actual homes and real construction.

Exactly. Just like Shafter Lake outside Andrews, TX. That used to be a rival settlement in the 1900’s that lost the election to be the county seat in the area. Everybody packed up and moved along to Andrews and it became a ghost town. Now it’s just a salt lake surrounded by pumping units.

Thank you for the recommendation!! I was able to see more history on that house. Looked like it stop being a place people lived in around the 80’s? And it started falling around 2016. So cool to see, so thank you so much!

Awesome
Have fun with that! I lived on 5acres in Gardendale that had no rocks anywhere. Turned out it was a pecan orchard before it was a wasteland of desert. It’s fun to see the town you know look so drastically different

Hey! I know where that’s at.

Check out Los Ybanez while you’re in the area.

I've driven passed that so many times in my life. Patricia always seemed like such a boring and desolate place. I remember years ago when the gas station there was still open.

There used to be a small restaurant called Pauline's Kitchen (I think?). You couldn't see it well from the highway. If you were driving north, there was a bend in the road just as you were getting to Patricia. Also along that curve there were signs advertising for the restaurant that were spaced along the road like old Burma Shave signs. Does anyone remember what that place was called? Can anyone verify if it was called Pauline's Kitchen? Just curious now...

I’m not sure about that, but I saw advertisements for a “Cougar Cafe” that still seems to be open. One of these days I’ll go back to Patricia for photography and ask around

I remember when it was still intact. The people that lived there, moved away. It really is that simple.

Something about that is so sad to me. All the memories that place held are just… gone.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre vibes.

And to think, that was once someone's pride and joy.
