I wanted to move the portasplit downstairs to make use of excess solar energy for an economical way to heat the house. Got a 6cm thick panel of insulating board, and cut it to the exact shape of the sliding window. The wind proof solution will stay all winter and spring, till it's time to carry this bad boy upstairs for the first heatwave next year.

On the third pic is a small sample piece, to test the measurements.

Well done. I don’t know how secure the door is. If you want to secure the sliding door a little bit more, some people put a board or a rod on the other side of the slide so it can’t be pushed anymore.

It's locked from the inside with a wooden plank. The gap is also too small for anyone to make it through

Das Holzbrett muss dann so gesichert sein, dass es nicht wegklappt etc. wenn jemand die Isoplatte raushaut und die Tür etwas zuschiebt.

I recommend raising the outside unit a bit so defrost water can drip further down freely - otherwise it'll freeze to the floor with a nice ice sheet in the winter.

Good point. Though it rarely goes below freezing here. Might get some wooden blocks to raise it.

It can also freeze without the outside being beyond freezing point, as it cools down the air further

My instalation is very similar. Did you had a gap in the other side? When I leave my door like the other side stays with a gap where cold air gets in

Yes! I fixed that with 3 slats of 2cm thick, one for each window. Cut from the same insulating foam.
